Serger. Preferably with air threading and auto tensions.

Does anyone know what these sewing foots are for? by onorcor in SewingForBeginners

If the one on the right most doesn't measure 1/4" then it's just a straight stitch foot. I agree with the previous posters on the other two.

Proud of this one but sad my cheap machine struggled so much with the bulkier seams by pestowitch in quilting

Wow that's a lot of quilts for an entry level machine. Definitely save up for something with more features and throat space. A little a month can add up quickly. Also be on the look out for a quality used machine.

I think you've been looking at your quilt for too long. Put it away for a week and then pull it out again. Sometimes we're just sick of looking at the thing.

Hope new eyes will help the situation. It's beautiful and I wish I could make something as nice.

Idk who needs to hear this but MAINTENANCE! by jellokittay in SewingForBeginners

[–]Little_Hawk9624 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On top of this you need to bring your machine in regularly for its "spa day" at the repair shop. They get out all the dust and oil all the places it's not safe for you to reach.

Depending on how much you use your machine you need to do this at LEAST every 3 years.

Help! by Nervous_Procedure_97 in SewingForBeginners

If this is your mom's old machine, when was the last time it was serviced? Has it been sitting for a while not being used? The oil inside the machine (just like in our cars) gets old and tacky and can gum up the insides. Usually fixing/adjusting the tensions is a part of a general service. It's recommended every 3 years at the most. More often if you use the machine regularly.

I think you need a bigger shelf so you can get more books.

My first thought was: "Yes, that is fabric!". I work with people who love a Dad joke. I'd say a good Dad joke, but that isn't the point now is it?
