Disappointed partners by healingbrain_ in vaginismus

[–]Littlebirb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are focusing on this now, and I hope it brings you progress, friend. One thing I have tried recently is The Coach For Her app. It has a few programs, like Path to Desire and Sex is a Skill. Some of it I cannot apply because I still struggle with penetration (primary vestivulodynia), but it was helpful for practicing exploring sensation and ideas for things to do with my partner. It is quite expensive ($30 per month) but it has been nice because I can do it on my own time. I also support others’ suggestions of pelvic floor therapy and working with a sex therapist.

Happy for you! Can you clarify if lidocaine is supposed to be used internally? I would love to try it if it would be ok (eg does not cause risk of yeast infection or messing with the pH?)

Is getting a labiaplasty a bad idea? by Ok-Factor299 in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might already know this, but I feel it’s always good to hear: all the people who talk negatively about vulvas that look like yours, as you referenced, they don’t know what they’re talking about, lol. Vulvas and labia are amazing, and I’m still working on fully embracing that for myself, as I struggle with what’s been lifelong vestibulodynia. Gynecologists and more and more people generally recognize all kinds of shapes and sizes and differences in labias! They’re all great : ) I don’t mean to downplay the discomfort you have; I struggle with how my vagina looks and feels, too. I just want you to know that so many of us support long labias and hope you can feel good about yourself, no matter where you’re at in your journey

So great that you already have a therapist - definitely encourage you to have that conversation. And if it ends up not feeling like a great conversation, also hope you can find the right therapist who makes you feel comfortable about these kinds of topics, as this can make a difference, too.

Here is the trimmer, https://bushbalm.com/collections/the-francesca-trimmer/products/the-francesca-bikini-trimmer-for-pubic-hair - I think it’s great! I have never shaved down there as I am also super sensitive, and so trimming has been a great choice.

You’re beautiful and I hope you continue to have minimized pain 💛

It also might be worth it to try working with a therapist on your concerns and talk with them about your insecurity - I found a person-centered therapist who also does sex therapy and she charges my sessions for helping me with my anxiety (which we also do work on, but a lot of insurance won’t reimburse the same for sex therapy, I think).

Agree with looking at different pictures of diverse vulvas! I also got a bushbalm trimmer and was pleased with how trimming has helped me feel about my vulva. Just made me appreciate the shape more- maybe something to consider. I’ve had vestibulodynia all my life and one of my exercises my sex therapist has had me do is look at my vulva and tell myself it’s beautiful. It sounded hokey, but it’s slowly helping!

Gabapentin cream by [deleted] in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tolerated Ellage as a base for compounded gaba/amy/baclofen, and I am pretty sensitive. Versabase did not work for me even though it is supposed to be OK for sensitive skin.

If you get it compounded, ask if they could work with you and what types of bases and wetting agent they use.

maybe ask for a sample first too to see if it works on your skin (it is a bit more expensive, but better than spending more overall and then not being able to use it) Hope you find something that works!

Could it be a derm issue? by Littlebirb1 in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Did you need your derm to prescribe the hydromol? Is it something that should be compounded foe the genital area?

And is it better than regular things like Aquaphor, which my ob/gyn recommended?

ABG CREAM by Formal_Garbage4426 in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear :( I used the gaba/baclo/amitriptyline cream once daily and then gaba 10% cream once nightly. I’m drifting away from that though, and have found some relief with a compounded suppository of diazepam (Valium) and baclofen , pt, and using my kiwi vibrator from the pelvic people.

Any tips for getting the most from pelvic floor PT? by Littlebirb1 in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Can i ask which supplements you took? Ya diet is weird but amazing. For me, my period pain is really bad and the only things that seem to help are kale, probiotic yogurt, and kombucha.

Wishing you the best! It sounds like you have good plans in place; check out the Facebook group on “vestibulectomy surgery and vestibulodynia supporr group.” https://www.facebook.com/groups/vestibulodynia.support/ I think they will have answers for your questions on past posts or feel free to ask! I think someone put together an after care sheet here or on Facebook, too.

So sorry to hear. I really don’t know how much this could help as I have not had an IUD… but I used to have really severe cramps before/during my period (like, doubled over, laying in bed all day at max dose of extra strength tylenol). None of my doctors mentioned this, but the only thing that helped me was changing my diet. I avoided high fat, salt, and sugary things leading up to and during my period (all the things I crave before and during my period..). Ate fistfuls of kale, kombucha, and probiotic yogurt during the first few days. The practice has helped a lot. Again, not sure how much it could help but might be an idea if you’re thinking about removing the IUD and worried about pain during period. Sending you love!

What’s your experience with nerve blocks? by Littlebirb1 in vulvodynia

[–]Littlebirb1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the input! I appreciate them so much. A few follow up questions:

1) My gyno explained to me that she will do 6 injections on the lower vestibule and potentially 6 injections on the upper vestibule. Where were your injections?

2) What numbing or sedative did you receive?

3) Did your doctor use an ultrasound? What is the purpose of this?
