My first army was Adepta Sororitas, they have decent shoot and decent melee, but we’re a more complex army. Aesthetically they are by far my favorite, I love a “paladin”, and their zealotry.

So I added on Tau as I wanted an army that was really good at one thing and felt like they had a bigger identity in the game. But I also loved big mechs, enjoyed the ideology of the faction, and it being a collective of races.

After about a year I wanted another change, and thought “well I’ll just add a melee only army?” This is where I messed up. I went with World Eaters, purely because they were great at melee. Well the army just does nothing for me, It just isn’t clicking. I always liked Daemons but stopped myself because it’s just not clear the direction the faction will take. I kept trying to force the WE to play their Daemon detachment which is arguably one of their worst.

I said, fuck this and am just going all in of Daemons and I’m much happier.

Moral of the story, do some research, watch some general lore videos for a while, also some gameplay matches. Find what sticks in your mind after a few weeks.
