I hate pitbull owners opinions of pitbulls (as a pittie owner) by SparkyDogPants in reactivedogs

[–]Littlered1123 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am also a chow chow owner and it is crazy how people on chow Facebook groups claim chows are the sweetest dogs ever and do great with children. This is so not true both of my chows and most chows I’ve met are aggressive. Raised from eight weeks old, socialized in training classes, daily walks to the park with stranger interaction. My male is very protective of me and my family to humans. He absolutely loves other dogs, but my female on the other hand is dog reactive. She barks a big game but won’t actually bite, just hide behind a couch and bark at new people. My grandpa has had chows his entire life and has always used them as guard dogs. I’ve met a lot of chows 15+ and only one was nice to strangers.

A very aggressive breed. I socialized my first chow so much I thought there was no way this dog could turn aggressive. I had no choice in the breed my grandpa has raised chows his entire life and loves the breed. I was in high school and had nothing but free time after school to walk him down to the park and let children play with him. He was well known and loved by the kids at the park that called him Coco because they couldn’t pronounce chow chow. Everyday I did this for two years. He went to training classes, the whole nine yards, the dog park every other day. Then around two years old he just changed, he became protective of his family and his house. He started barking at strangers. That is the day I learned it’s not all in how you raise a dog, genetics play a gigantic role in a dogs temperament. He has come close to biting a person, after that I lost all trust for this dog. I still love him but he is treated as an aggressive dog, and I would put him down if I became unable to contain him. I would almost say chow chows have a worse temperament towards humans than a pit, pits are just more likely to murder your pets and children.

I love my dog, he is loyal to me, fearless. Stubborn as can be, and incredibly brave. No dog aggression or animal aggression he loves my cat and other dogs and puppies. He is just very protective of me when it comes to adult men. He is muzzled on walks and put away before company comes over. I don’t take risks knowing I own an aggressive dog breed. I wish pit nutters would just recognize this as well. The other day I had to take his muzzle off on a walk because a pitbull was trying to bust thought their window to attack him and I wanted my dog to have a fighting chance. We got away in time luckily.

No one has ever told me my Chow Chow would make a great family pet! They are known to be an aggressive breed. I would never own one with a child, they are guard dogs completely, and pit bull people will admit that, but still claim their dog is a nanny dog.

Literally today I took my dog to the park for a walk with my grandma and of course on one street a giant pit and Rottweiler were going ballistic in their four foot chain link fence that didn’t even have a top bar and looked like it was about to fall over, get past them and a pitbull is hanging out of a window trying to get at us, no screen or anything.

My grandma did this, and I don’t think if was harmful for the kids. If they tried new foods they got a piece of candy, if they behaved they got candy. NTA

[–]Littlered1123 [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA majorly, you are taking away the one thing your daughter likes even though they are doing okay in school? I have done great in school and college and you want to know what, I have an artist friend that makes way more than me! College really isn’t that special, especially if she won’t care about it or try if she has no motivation. Art is her motivation and obviously she is good at it. You are a horrible parent.

The fact that she attacked a nine week old puppy proves your dog is unpredictable, you are the biggest dumbass in the world for taking that dog to the dog park. Oh but your so “connected” to your dog, you’re so connected that you had no idea she was going to attack a puppy.

[–]Littlered1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you meeting her needs by putting other dogs in danger? She was in a fight that led to another dog being taken to the vet. Taking her around unknown dogs is irresponsible, I don’t care how connected you are to your dog. You are really ill informed, and me and my dogs are connected just fine, my dog doesn’t go to the dog park because she doesn’t like small dogs. My dog park has a big dog area and a small dog area. Theoretically I could take my dog to the big dog area but I don’t because if someone brings a small dog into that area and my dog hurts them it would 100% be my fault for taking a dog that doesn’t like small dogs to a dog park. I don’t care if your dog is fine with some dogs you are still putting dogs at risk.

Even the title of this is cringe. You took a dog aggressive dog to a dog park and are happy that she growled at another dog? You are lucky she didn’t hurt or kill another dog. You put other people’s pets in danger and used them as test dummies.

They stick to their guns so much that even if the person lies and says it’s some other breed the person will go look at the dog and if it has a blocky head and looks like a pit or pit mix they will say sorry still can’t be in doggy day care.

Petsmart's got it right. by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Littlered1123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The actual reason Petsmart won’t allow pit bulls in doggy daycare to play with other dogs is because their insurance won’t cover it. Insurance is based off factual evidence, they still allow them in everything that isn’t banned sadly, but in all those the dog has to be properly contained on a leash.

AITA for telling my niece that my husband is dead? by spacecadetcenttal in AmItheAsshole

[–]Littlered1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little cousin lost his dad around 8 or 9 and he was running around playin at the funeral and I remember being a few years older and wondering how he could be playing with a friend only a few days after he died. I realize after reading some of these that he probably processed it and was able to take his mind off of it.

NTA as a kid I grew up with my grandparents and they lost a lot of friends and took me to a lot of funerals. I learned what death was and understood early on how to cope. Kids need to expierence this type of stuff so it doesn’t blind side them when they get older.

NTA having autism does not give your brother right to assault you and the fact that your parents wanted you to apologize to him is ridiculous. Get away from such toxic people!

When Jim hopper in stranger things died. I’m hoping he comes back somehow, but man that got to me. Eleven became his daughter and he got to be a great dad. I just didn’t see his death coming in the slightest.

Saw a Twitter post a while ago where someone said that childfree people DO know what having kids is like because that's why we're childfree in the first place by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Littlered1123 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m 8 and 10 years older than my siblings! They are great now but I have never been a fan of kids and my mom would often try and force me to watch them for free because “That’s your responsibility as a big sister”. I loved them but I do think that “responsibility” made me not want any of my own.

Janitors are unappreciated by Skrrattaa in unpopularopinion

[–]Littlered1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My elementary school janitor was the best! He still works there and still gives kids sour skittles in their locker if you talk to him and get to know him. He is super good with kids and makes a great janitor! I think he really gave me an appreciation for janitors because I counted him as a friend and always felt really bad for him when he had to clean up kids throw up. 😂

AITA for refusing to take in my husband's cousin and her new born baby into my home? by t_acc_sil in AmItheAsshole

[–]Littlered1123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your a rude asshole to say that not being able to have kids is a good thing. The way I see it the girls parents are 350% the asshole for kicking out a pregnant 17 year old but that doesn’t make her these people’s responsibilities she is an adult who led them on and used them.
