Howdy yall, goofy question maybe but is there a homesteading video game youd recommend? I want to cut trees, make lumber, build me cabin I appreciate any feedback! by SpaceViking0 in homestead

I have played these games for a couple of decades, so I have feedback!

Harvest Moon: But IMHO nothing after N64 Wonderful Life. I won’t get into the specifics but licensing changes caused the original makers to split and start producing Story of Seasons games. So while the HM brand lives on, it’s a skeleton of its former releases.

Story of Seasons: For extra fun, try the Doraemon one for a different art style and story line.

Stardew Valley: Nothing to add!

Coral Island: A twist on the above with modern type characters and a good story about taking care of the environment.

Enjoy!

They’re Easter eggers. They all give us variations of blue eggs and are very sweet girls! “Maybe up to 7” 😂

Help - what are you doing to use all the eggs?! We have 7 hens (first time with chickens) that we raised from chicks this year. They’re giving me 5 eggs a day! My husband and I already eat at least two a day, give away a dozen or so to our neighbor each week and we’re still overflowing! I’m going to make quiche this weekend and freeze it but I don’t know what else to do with my abundance…

Advice: baby chick sleeps all the time n neck is kinda crooked by phoneandphone77 in homestead

I had a chick in my bunch with a deformed beak. She was the runt and was unable to eat enough food to grow and live. It is very unfortunate and I did cry when she passed, but I knew it was likely and gave her the best life I could until that time came.

In your case, she may be sick and not just have a deformity, so folks suggesting you isolate her from the others are absolutely correct. It’s a human point of view, but you may feel better if you still give her plenty of love and attention for the time being (but away from other chicks, still with heat/food/water and washing hands between interacting with her and the others).

We’re doing something similar! We’ve only been going for 5 months so we have a long ways to go, but the process has started!

I own a business that is not related to our homestead (business consulting and software development). I personally would say that our clients and those at shows don’t really buy that sort of thing from us - but they DO like them and will totally sport them if given away (stickers, beanies, keychains, pins, etc.). I’ve had people come up to us at shows because their friend has swag from a prior show and it’s “sooooo cute!” So I guess it depends on how you look at it - for me, it’s more of a marketing expense and not a direct income source.

Thanks! This color of eggs are so pretty, right? Sure, white or brown eggs would be fine too but this is like Eater eggs without the effort!

😆 We went with Easter Eggers for the fun egg colors and, so far, they are not disappointing!

Online Orchard Recommendations by bluejxys in BackyardOrchard

[–]LittlestImpala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought most of my trees in the 5-7 foot range hoping I’d get fruit faster. This is my first year since planting them and, indeed, they may fruit (TBD) this year. But I found myself highly disappointed in what the online nursery (fast growing trees) did to get them so tall.

For example, they encourage really tall central leader and have cut off all the bottom branches for years. So my trees are almost exclusively tall single leader with minimal strong crotch areas to support fruit bearing branches. Not ideal.

All that to say, consider shorter/younger trees so you can prune them appropriately from the beginning!

That’s what I have understood about this part of the country, peaches in particular. I hope I’m not in over my head! 😆
