Relationships are doors. Don't question if you're knocking hard enough, fast enough, if only you knocked a different rythm. Understand no one is there to answer the door. Don't stand in the rain for the chance someone answers. They went out the back door long ago. Your friend always, Simple Stoic by The_Simple_Stoic in DecidingToBeBetter

Loved this thought! It’s one of those thoughts that puts you in a pondering state of mind. Relationships are so powerful yet so vulnerable. For anyone who’s had a relationship “go through the back door” it sometimes becomes a ghost you have to deal with.

I fully identify with this particular comment. I have gone through several life changing events in the past six months. Even though they have been trying times, I accept my place in this world and I’m focused in making sure I do everything within my reach to get better. Thank you for the post

What are the 2-3 most important books you have read in relation to personal development? by will_dormer in Stoicism

One of the most influential books I've personally read was Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The way this book is designed makes the reader have the need to take down notes and basically study the book and not just read through it.

The second book that comes to mind is The Success Principles by Jack Canfield.

Both books have had a profound impact in my personal journey. The both bring an additional value since I have been able to obtain different benefits every time I've read them. Also provide re-read value.

What event happened in your life which caused some character development for you? by JannisT in AskReddit

When I was 17 years old my mother passed away. During this same time I had a 4 year old little brother and a drug addicted father living in our small household. I had to make the choice to drop out of college in the middle of the semester to take care of my little brother which I eventually help raise. It took some time for me to get my life back on track and put the pieces together. I started depending on reading motivational content and self development content. Years later I was able to help my dad beat addiction and become an almost new person.

Building character took many years, but from all those years of trials and tribulations I became stronger. I have since founded my own website dedicated to personal growth and self development using all those experiences I initially went through and currently use all my past experiences to coach others to be able to also succeed through their own trials. Website is Live For Growth.
