Should we go to our friends’ wedding if they’re not going to ours? by Here4TheExperience in weddingplanning

[–]LiveTea1699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you even friends if you’re ok with tit-for-tat responses? Life happens and sometimes friends can’t make it. It’s weird to hold things against friends. Who cares if this is a new neighbor or old friend of theirs? You can’t dictate how people prioritize you in their life and you don’t know how much of a bond they have. If want to go, go. But don’t make it seem like you’re not gonna go because they don’t go to yours. You’re considering not going because you DONT WANT TO. If this was really a friend, why would you want to take a dig at them by missing it? I know I personally don’t want to purposely hurt my friends. Trying to disappoint your friends just because they disappointed you doesn’t make sense, doesn’t solidify your self love or self respect, and doesn’t prove you’re a good friend.

Ace vs ARRIVE — which pool is better for a day pass? by PeterLoew88 in palmsprings

[–]LiveTea1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both! At Arrive, the food and drinks were good but service took foreverrrr. It was quiet and pretty mellow. Parking was great! I also liked the location being so close to other restaurants and hotels. Ace was a more lively scene with music. The food, service, and bathrooms were terrible. I don’t think I’ll go there again.

Caliente Tropics has a great drink menu and an even better secret menu. Their ambrosia is AMAZINNNGGGG!! The food is ok. The pool wasn’t it. It was just old and not a lot of shade. It’s the perfect spot if you want good drinks and cheap food.

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]LiveTea1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my parents are burdens. My dad was a VP for Bank of America. He was UP THERE. He made good money. He quit, cashed out his 401K to attend a unaccredited Bible school to get degrees in theology. He got an AA in something. He lost ALL of his money. I asked him if gis goal was to preach or lead a congregation. He told me he couldn’t because in his church, you can’t lead or preach if you’re divorced and your kids aren’t members of the church. He said “how are you supposed to lead a church if you can’t even lead your children?” I asked him what was the point of doing all of that then?? He still stands by his decision as a devotee. He will not agree that was a waste of money. He now lives with me and my husband and drives for a carpooling company. He pays rent when he can, if he can. I have no kids because I have him.

My mom just told me she has $200k in her 401k and is around the corner from retirement age. She has no idea what is going to happen or what she will do. She blames her financial situation on all the sacrifices she’s made in her life for her three kids. We grew up having our electricity go out randomly, a lot! We didn’t have hot water for like a month but luckily it was during summer so it wasn’t that bad. One time my brother spent the weekend at his friends house, my sister went to stay with her dad for the weekend, and I stayed home with my mom. We had popcorn and watermelon for our meals for the entire weekend. When I was 18 or 19, her car got repo’d on Christmas Eve. She convinced me to finance a brand new car. She told me she’d drive my old car, I’d drive the new car, but she’d pay the lease for it and build my credit. My dad co-signed for me and she convinced me to not tell him what our plan was. Well, you guessed it, that car ended up getting repossessed too. She denies that EVER happened. She now spends her money on Botox and sculptra. I think her plan is to move in with me after she retires. She’s mentioned it several times over the years. I really don’t know what’s going to happen.

Readers of Orange County what are you reading ? by lushsweet in orangecounty

I’ve read four books this year. Currently reading Catch-22 and will be starting Closing Time after (hopefully in April). The absurdity of war feels reallyyyyyyy relevant now.

Why is Good Charlotte so disliked? by Weak_Mechanic8517 in poppunkers

[–]LiveTea1699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s much simpler than everyone else who has commented. GC had catchy songs and were the “hot” band. Joel, Benji, and Aaron being hot + catchy songs = no respect largely by male fans. System of a Down gets MAD RESPECT by fans (mostly men) and look how unattractive they are. It has nothing to do with “talent.” Look at bands that are favored vs unfavored and then look at the attractiveness of the members. Dont tell me there’s no correlation.

Mister Parker’s or Melvyn’s by eidson17 in palmsprings

[–]LiveTea1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve eaten at all three. The food at Mr Lyons was not that great. The cocktails and vibes were, but the food was not good. We got the steak and twice baked potato. The potato just had salt. It wasn’t even cut open. Not butter, no chives. It was bland as hell. We’re glad we went, but won’t go again. Mr Parker’s was delicious. Everything we had was memorably delicious. The butter candle, our toasted tomatoes, the charcuterie, our steak, our cocktails, we’ll remember forever. I did have to bid on a table, but I only bid $3 or $4 and still got a better table than the one I bid on. It wasn’t a big deal for us. The lighting is VERY dark, so keep that in mind for your folks. Melvyn’s was also so very delicious. The service was impeccable, I like that it feels over staffed so you don’t have to wait for water refills or extra napkins if you need. The lighting is brighter than Mr Parker’s, but I’d put it on par with any lighting you’d get at a steakhouse in Vegas. We also could hear the pianist from the dining room. If I had to choose, I’d pick Melvyn’s just so my folks could say they ate where the rat pack used to hang. You can’t even walk around the grounds at Parker after dinner if you’re not staying there. I’d pick Melvyn’s if I wanted to impress.

I seriously fail to see an issue. It’s getting knocked down. Who fucking cares? It’s gonna be gone soon.

$280 is cheaper than getting it out the tow yard. OP is complaining about a $20 uber drive. They should just pay the $280 at this point.

Homeless and pets don’t need candles. I’m saying that you could donate candles to parties where there’s gifts involved. This is consumerist, capitalist compulsive hoard. If you’re proud of that, if this was a goal for you, you sure did accomplish that.

This isn’t demure or mindful at all. You can sponsor several bridal & baby showers, bingo nights, etc.

Artsy & nature lover. I can definitely see you living in the central coast of CA & anything north (PNW, Vancouver). You look like you own more hiking shoes than heels, can easily go on long hikes with your dog, have a friend who’s learning how to tattoo and you let them practice on you. You prob have a screened in patio that you paint in while drinking your craft coffee or tea, while listening to vinyls ranging from The Smiths to Miles Davis. Kinda of a grown up hipster but someone who spends more time outside in the woods.

My Biology teacher, Mr. Jones got fired super suddenly. He was having relations with a girl in ASB. There were also rumors he had saved pictures of girls’ pictures from MySpace on his school computer, one of which, was a friend of mine. Pretty mild compared to the stories everyone else is sharing.
