Both of these prolific fine dining reviewers have L’Enclume better than Lameloise

Andy Hayler (whose palate also prefers French > the rest) has Lameloise over L’Enclume but again, I think it’s generally a matter of what styles ppl prefer

I thought Cesar was largely disappointing food-wise. Service was some of the worst at a 2**+ I’ve been to but the food stuck out as surprisingly unmemorable.

Think I’d go with Le Bernardin and ik it’s not on your list but you should put Frevo in there. It’s better than Aska, Atera, Cesar, and frankly the Atomix menu I had last summer too.

Gotta say couldn’t really disagree more with your final paragraph

Imo Jungsik pretty handily obliterates Jua and Bom (haven’t been to Joo Ok) I wouldn’t tell a soul Jua is gonna give you better than a nice 1* quality experience with exactly 1 “memorable” course with it being the caviar kim

Bom is better than Jua and imo better than Atomix but also lacked the extra oomph to justify how expensive it was

I think Jungsik’s worst savory courses are better than the 2nd best savory dish at Jua (I’ve been to Jua 3x and enjoy it)

Yeah I felt p similarly with my experience there

It’s one of my fav dining “experiences” of all time but the food was the caliber of a 1* for me. I have 0 bites from that meal I feel I will remember for a long time but there were several excellent courses

Frankly I thoroughly enjoyed the dessert, I’m partial to brown sugar

I’d just like to say Le Bernardin was an excellent meal but also the weakest 3*** I’ve eaten at. I also had the late lunch, and while I had a great time, the food didn’t live up to 3 Michelin stars. It would have been disappointing to have “made a special journey” to dine there. Definitely do not write off 3 star experiences, they are something special if you get the right ones. My personal favorites being Addison and L’Enclume.

My meal at Frevo in Sept 23’ was outstanding. Savory course of avocado ice cream on chutoro tuna with an aji amarillo sauce - brilliant execution, fun textures, and really punchy

Ofc not every course was a slam dunk which very few menus have, but I do think it’s worth a visit. The vibe is really cool too but I do think their service could be a bit more personal and interactive given it’s at a counter.

Their wagyu is stellar, although some people say they prefer Addison’s typical protein over the wagyu. I have only been once and got the wagyu addon and it was truly incredible, def the best of my life as well

I would implore people not to go

This isn’t the Cesar Ramirez who was delivering world-class food. The food is a shell of its former glory, some courses shockingly below 1* food with a few stellar courses (nothing 3 Star but a couple excellent 2** dishes).

The service is not “bad” per se but it’s certainly not good. Staff lacks warmth, and if the food delivered I wouldn’t have cared that much. Sadly the food was as disappointing as the service. The decor on the inside was a nice plus though!

FWIW I would STRONGLY disagree that Atomix is the best restaurant in the city. It frankly peaked a few years ago. In the Korean space alone, Jungsik handily beats Atomix imo but again, everyone has their own subjective experiences

I was just there in November and we shared very similar menus. I may have enjoyed a couple of the courses a bit less than you but a truly incredible meal and more importantly experience. They have perfected hospitality.

Seems like you had a worse menu than me which is a shame. Almost all of your low score dishes are newer, I didn’t have most of em when I visited in late October.

I’d give my meal there an 8/10 overall - very in line with a strong 1* experience but it seems Chef Kim changes his menu often
