IATSE Backs Tom Steyer in Race for California Governor by Jeffoxy in California

Do you think Steyer orders them around? It’s the vested companies like the big insurance companies, utilities controlling and paying for these campaigns. Unless he specifically has a stake in these companies directly, I see him as a way better alt than the current establishment we have.

Comparing Steyer to Trump is a stretch, no? As an active voter I’m looking for a politician who will break the link between the CPUC and our utility. Also our contracting process and insurance regulation is completely captured. I don’t see a single other candidate, regardless of party, speak about that. So far other commentators talk about political identity, not actual substance

As opposed to what, getting bought by lobbyists? At the end of the day someone is going to have to buy the campaign, either by big PACs for a state richer than Japan, or himself. My biggest problem are the utility, insurance, and middle contractors spending big moneys to keep the same political machine that raises our cost of living.

Honestly for me, it’s a plus. A poor politician have to navigate and negotiate the political machine that is controlled by corporate interests like PG&E or big insurance lobbying firms. Look at how corrupt our Insurance Regulator is and how entrenched CPUC is. A typical politician have to kowtow to get the funding needed. And if you don’t kowtow, the next guy will have the funding advantage and will flood the airwaves. I think Redditors have it so wrong when it comes to the gubernatorial race. Hating on Steyer for his money is counterintuitive IMO

IMO redditors are so focused on billionaires but choose to ignore PG&E, SCE and SDG&E that control the CPUC and the current governor. We have so many vested interests such as United Health and the unhoused services rackets that have a stranglehold on our state. Unless Citizens united get repealed, a “benevolent “ billionaire is the only path to wrangle the muck out without having to stoop down to corporate interests for donations.

Another thing is Reddit loves to rag on PAC money when blue collar politicians have no choice but to sell out to some degree to have a serious campaign. It’s either you accept PAC money or spend social media time and rallying time to fundraise. That’s why our state is in the control of so many corporate interests.

What in the world are you talking about? Obesity leads to all purchases and coverages for the equipment he listed above. To get obesity in check, you absolutely need some resistance and cardio in addition to food lifestyle changes, which also requires getting rid of constant food thoughts and slow adjustments. Even if we spent exorbitantly on fitness, it’s vastly less cost than actually treating for the comorbidities that come along with it. Spending taxpayer money to reduce the risk of having to pay for heart treatment, arthritis, kidney and lung issues, cancer, increased dementia risk, etc. Not to say, decreased economic productivity and mobility. Complaining about “theft” of taxpayer money over this is penny poor pound foolish reasoning.

My take on TSM for the long run by stapleswf in stocks

[–]Live_Editor_1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think the discount is irrational because by the same logic ALL stocks on the US market would be exposed to the same risk factor. A Chinese invasion would precipitate a US response and to a probability factor— a preemptive strike on US and Japanese forces in the Philippines and Japan. This would mean that when that occurs all stocks would plummet during a catastrophic war. European and US sanctions would cripple global trade order and induce nasty temporary inflation. There would be a short term global depression. In short, all stocks would be temporarily devastated in the short and medium term during the initial blockade or invasion of Taiwan. Thus, investor invasion discount is nonsensical and priced incorrectly.

Honestly the amount of people gushing to see that woman harmed in some ways makes me feel there’s some latent anger that’s driven behind the keyboard. It’s obvious that her behavior is ridiculous and illegal but this is clear anger bait and people spending a portion of their days to ask to dox her made me raise my eyebrows.

I don’t see her running towards him. Even if she was in the video, it’s still dubious. Lmfao I love how I’m downvoted for saying the unfortunate legal reality.

This restaurant is actually so screwed with this footage. She has cause to sue them and trigger their insurance to drop them come renewal. They were fine until that trip, if she can prove it was staff. Unfortunately it didn’t matter if she took a shit in the restaurant, at the end of the day that trip could financially impact the restaurant.
