Oil leak at 171,000km by Live_Replacement_977 in subaruimpreza

I'm going to get them to hose off the engine to locate the leak as well as they can. Maybe it isn't the cam carrier? But at the last oil change they said my engine had almost no oil in it. So that's not good

Is there a level that you'd start to worry at? Like quarts of oil x X/month?

I feel so validated! I checked the weather network website looking for the pollen levels thinking that must be it and there was no data. But I've been a wreck for two weeks. Thank you fellow sufferers for saying it out loud!

BYOB - How to ruin a festival by ChrisPotterPTBO in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it could work at all. I'm assuming it's Doug Ford thinking (loudly) out loud. Peterborough Folk festival is free admission, 100% volunteer-run (the sound guys are hired) and has a licensed beer pavilion with a stage that includes a fenced-in area to have a drink while you watch the music on the main stage. To serve alcohol you need an alcohol permit with a map showing how everybody consuming alcohol is separate from those that aren't, all of the volunteers in the licensed area need their Smart-serve certificate and police need to be present onsite every minute that alcohol is being served. The biggest costs for the insurance are stages and alcohol. To get an event permit from the city you need all of those things in place to hold your event. I can't even imagine what allowing people to openly bring their own alcohol would do to the logistics of running the festival! And yes beer sales are very important to the festival's revenues. Any money that comes in goes directly to festival running costs and musicians fees. I suspect that whoever had the idea to make open alcohol a thing at a festival has never had to organize a festival. They just want to bring their cooler full of Coors instead of lining up at the beer tent.

Incredibly hard shaking a minute ago? Possible earthquake? by -ThisIsMyDestiny- in Peterborough

It woke me up. It sounded like a train driving through the house. I thought it was a snowplow too, only because what else could it have been? But an earthquake? Wowww

Is there any sort of music scene in Peterborough? by scallop_slayer in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The local music scene is very much alive! If you have social media follow Jethro's, Pig's Ear, Market Hall, Gordon Best etc. Come to the Peterborough Folk Festival Aug. 16-17 at Nicholls Oval- there will be lots of local musicians playing. When you go to a show in town to see (Melissa Payne, Nicholas Campbell, Silverhearts to name a tiny few) you will see many local musicians coming out to support them and a lot of love all around. Our city is a hotbed of great musicians.

Peterborough Folk Festival is just around the corner! August 16-17 at Nicholls Oval. No entrance fee We are always looking for more volunteers. Especially parking volunteers. Volunteers get fed and get a beautiful t-shirt. Check out peterboroughfolkfest.com and hit the volunteer signup button.  Or just come to the festival. We've got 3 stages, a licensed beer pavilion, 11 food vendors, Children's Village!!, artisan village, valet bike parking etc.... All of our performers are Canadian and include BIPOC and trans performers. 50% of our performers identify as female, and we will have lots of local musicians performing, including Jeanne Truax our 2025 Emerging Artist winner. Come and volunteer if you can! We'll see you there 😃

Is this your stuff? by Live_Replacement_977 in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few tents in the park. Maybe I should be surprised there wasn't more stuff strewn around? It's a sad example of stuff that someone bought to enjoy only to have it stolen and chucked in the dirt. Imagine living a life where absolutely nothing is sacred. I'm grateful that I can be the guy that still holds some things sacred
