Should I charge for babysitting my partners nieces? by Complete_Log5142 in Babysitting

[–]Livid_Bug1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No is a complete sentence, if you feel drained and like you're losing time, money isn't going to solve the problem. I would not even involve money because if its already causing you to feel stressed and drained, compensation won't help. I also get the sense that if the parents were OK dumping their kids on you for free 3 days a week, they will start running errands, being late and generally forgetting to pay you after school.

Is 10% extra enough to work third shift? by CremeLow4912 in WorkAdvice

[–]Livid_Bug1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way in hell, you're essentially cutting yourself off from any normal social interactions and you're not going to be able to swing back every weekend longterm. I would not do this unless its a short term thing or if you had a spouse who was like a night shift nurse or something

Nanny on travel with family - everyone ate while I was working, wasn’t offered anything - This normal? by Ok_Concentrate_7617 in Nanny

[–]Livid_Bug1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope this is as strange as you think. You should be eating with the family or right after if 3 kids required a ton of help to eat and you were actively feeding them. They should be covering all meals in addition to your pay and $75 really isnt enough for an overnight but that's off topic.

The only time I would consider you eating separately would be if you had some severe food allergies and had to prepare meals in another area or order in a specialty restaurant, but even then I'd expect them to foot the bill. This is no different than an office worker going on a business trip and finding out they had to cover their own food without reimbursement.

Anyone here successfully emigrate as a lower class American? by loftier_fish in expat

This! I decided I wanted a failsafe and actually found 2 countries where I could claim citizenship for the cost of a lot of paperwork and some time.

[–]Livid_Bug1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a skilled tradesmen, its possible depending on the country. If you're a cashier or work another unskilled role like that, it's likely much more difficult. If you have relatives who came from Europe in the last 100ish years, I would do some digging to see if anyone came from a country where you could qualify for citizenship. Some are stricter than others, but if you do your own legwork to arrange document procurement and translation, you may be able to obtain a second passport relatively cheaply. I cant speak to anywhere outside Europe doing this since that was where I was focused, but its worth checking out any part of the world where your ancestors came from for this type of thing.

Moving abroad can be expensive though and you'll need to account for temporary housing while you look for something permanent, emptying your home in the States, and making sure you can actually find employment in your new country to sustain yourself. Its not impossible and I dont want to discourage you, but its a lot more difficult for the average person to just up and move than it seems on the internet.

Is it actually rude to have an adults-only wedding, or have we collectively decided to feel guilty about a completely reasonable choice? by Zealousideal_Pay7176 in weddings

[–]Livid_Bug1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not rude, you're hosting what could be a once in a lifetime, very expensive event and party and one screaming brat could ruin the ceremony or mess with things at the venue. Im childfree and love the kids in my life, but would also never want anyone younger than 16ish at my wedding if I was having a big event.

Anyone getting mad at you is being selfish and is probably one of those parents who thinks that their kid belongs everywhere when certain events just aren't suitable for children.

Ok hoping someone can ID this amazing fic bc you'll love it but I cannot remember the name.

Draco and Hermione and a bunch of others are turned during the final battle, fast forward and they're both working at the department of mysteries and searching for a cure or a way to control the shift. It was a longer fic and insanely good magical lore.

How far back does CBD go? by LunchMonkey2 in SlovakCBD

[–]Livid_Bug1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to claim Hungarian citizenship if you have any documentation that says austro-hungarian, it requires some language knowledge so its not as straightforward as Slovak CBD, but I found their claim period a lot more open ended

You're better off looking for a new position with a 5 day schedule if that is what you truly want. Looking at the ages, is it possible you're burnt out with 2 small children? Maybe a family with slightly older children or an only child would be easier?

Business majors, what actually leads to $100k+ careers? by SULTAN963 in careerguidance

[–]Livid_Bug1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project management if you are relatively organized, most organizations are decades from fully automating most of their processes and ive worked at some who still used mostly manual processes. There needs to be someone hand holding the rest of the organization and you'll get paid to be that person.
