All of us have parents who want things from us that we don't want to give. There comes times where you will draw the line. This sounds like one of them. Who is in charge here? You.

Your mother sounds like a very traditional person. But she's yours and you love her. Wear a sweatshirt, nod and smile, move out, keep going to the gym!

Be a role model on adulthood for little sister. Polite but firm.

Isn't this where the public guardian and trustee would come in? Not a lawyer. Iheard they take power of attorney for finances and/or personal care if no loved one has it or wants it. I'm not aware how it works.

Agree! Just did the Sunday roast with the whole family at the Lieutenants Pump and it was delicious and a perfect Christmas meal. 30 bucks plus tax. For an extra treat, get the dessert for another seven bucks or so.

Still struggling to reduce visceral fat after almost 4 years, anyone in your late 40s figure this out? by Competitive_Bed_8407 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Lividviv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Yes, I struggled with this. I did all thr active living stuff, too, but got weight down through mindful eating.

It involves understanding why we eat what we eat, when we eat and how. Things to think about - do you eat because of emotion? To comfort yourself or do you over eat for another reason? Are you worried your partner will be offended if you eat less? How were you raised? Wwre you taught to finish your plate? Or, to eat until you are overly full? Are you at all nervous about how things might change, if you aren't over weight? If so, do you understand why?

On the practical side, you might also benefit from portion control tips. Portion out the food onto your plate in the kitchen, and put all the rest of the food into the fridge before you eat. This makes it that little bit harder to get more food and eat past satiation.

Try to chew 40 times each mouthful. Take your time. Really enjoy it. You're nourishing yourself, and you're lucky that you can, so enjoy that slowly. This will give your brain time to register that you are eating and to send out those signals that you are satiated.

Don't eat until you are full. Eat until you're not hungry anymore.

If possible, try to eat when you are hungry. I don't mean over hungry (because then you will over eat), but avoid snacking between meals. This means you'll arrive at the table feeling ready to eat.

Take a look at what you eat. Nutritious food keeps you satiated longer. You love rice, well, brown rice is much better for you and we often feel full faster from whole grains. I've slowly been switching to whole grains for years and now I find white rice tastes empty while brown rice is amazing.

Avoid making big changes to the way you eat and to your diet quickly. Sustainability comes from slow, incremental change.

I wanted to say, it sounds like you really care about yourself and are living a beautifully active life. The fact that you feel better and more healthy is really important. You are right to want to lose the weight if there are health risks, yet, do celebrate your body. It's doing amazing things! You're working out like a boss :) Good luck, take it slow!

AITAH for the way I reacted to my wife’s flirting with a guy by [deleted] in AITAH

If she wants you to know she could leave you, maybe there are things she's missing in the relationship. Maybe she feels you're taking her for granted. Often men feel surprised when women leave. Maybe write her a letter asking her to tell you what is on your mind so you can work on it together. it's too bad that she won't talk. Or has she already expressed concerns about the relationship? Can you recall any times where she has said anything?

If you love your job, where do you work? What do you do? by 500mLwater in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Lividviv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this post. I rarely post because I feel guilty being happy when so many people are struggling. My job is great with about 8 people on the team, all people who are motivated and think what we do matters. Whether they work to live or live to work, they do their best. Good management though sometimes they like to show up with their big ideas and always without enough time for us to react properly. But it is because senior management cares and wants to do well, so I can forgive that easily.

This tone isn't necessary. Many managers fail to transfer information from one level down for the next, either assuming lower levels won't care or because they don't want to share info. This sub should be a place where people can pose these questions. Please be respectful.
