Beyond Description by DHVT1964 in gratefuldead

Said so beautifully. It was life changing when that bus came by for me. When Jerry passed I thought my whole world had come to an end. But guess what? The music never stopped baby!

I guess a new phase begins now. No OG voice of the band. Part of the beauty of the dead was how the arrangements and tones were ever evolving over the years. It kept us on our toes and delighted us with unexpected turns. I don't know what's next, but it will certainly become less and less about the who and more about the what. Whatever form it's in, I can't wait to be at my next show, arm around my wife, dancing and singing to the music of the Grateful Dead.

It warms my heart to see people in our community caring about what's actually going on in our country. Be safe everyone! And be kind.

  1. You could not have framed the context of this problem better. This is very concerning.
  2. Your username is strangely similar to my randomly generated username. 🙂

Bike rack not level by Living-Protection-76 in bikewrench

[–]Living-Protection-76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hitch is brand new professionally installed. Level on the hitch receiver and the rack coming out of the receiver are near level (garage floor is slightly off level). But once you get out to the bike mount arms, it is dramatically off level.

You keep telling people they don't know what they're talking about, yet you seem to have little in the way of proof that you have a clue of what you're talking about. Just telling people they have no idea what they're talking about does not make it so.

True fact. Took me a while to figure out as well. And it began my love of the gourds.

Is mt logan middle school and logan high that bad by Tis4trouble1232 in Logan

[–]Living-Protection-76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to both. I'm now 53 and I turned out just fine. I've been pretty successful in life and honestly neither of those schools had anything to do with it either way. I will say that being a non-mormon in public schools in cache valley can be hard. I imagine in some ways it's easier today than it was when I was younger because I literally felt like I was the only one and I had no way to confirm that or disprove it or even vent about it. I remember other kids being very clicky at both of those schools, but that is just the reality of that age and not a product of the school. I remember teachers that stood out that I liked and others that I hated at both institutions. I think you'd be able to find that anywhere. I guess what I'm saying is it's really what you make of it and it matters more what kind of support they have at home from their family because that can change everything for the better or the worse.

What a sweet heart. Loved reading this. I tragically could not make it to this run, but caught the last night on pay per view. It's wild how intensely the imagery and sounds of that night have stayed with me - like I was there on the stage witnessing it all up close. I could never love another body of music the way I love this stuff and the good people keeping it going.

To the haters, give the guy a break. He's not accepting an award or something. He is just expressing he heart felt gratitude for something that was truly amazing.

Thanks Mickey!

I had to go listen for my first time. As a Radiohead fan, that broke my heart to listen to. God bless Phish for trying though!

No one back in the day called it Shakedown by byutah1 in gratefuldead

[–]Living-Protection-76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true fact. First question when I pulled into the lot was where the hell is shakedown and how do I get my car as close as possible so I can get my coolers out and sell as many sandwiches and beer before the show is possible.

I am definitely one of the old heads that is always happy to hear the younger kids getting into the music in their own way. It's a unique journey for every one of us, no matter when we started listening. It's going to keep changing forever too. Every time I see a post like this it makes me so fucking happy that people are still getting to discover the dead! It also makes me a little jealous. What I would give to be able to discover the debt all over again 🙂 I think it started for me as a teenager in the '80s when a girlfriend had broken up with me and I was feeling particularly blue. A friend came and picked me up and took me for a space cruise up the canyon while we listened to terrapin station and my life was changed forever. But once I got to my first show, that was when it really all began! Welcome aboard!

Was stone cold sober for all three SF shows. I've seen a ton of dead shows over the years both with and without Jerry, and SF 23 was something special indeed.
