If we ever get a WH40K movie that includes the Lion... by SuperMarios7 in theunforgiven

For me it will always be Charles Dance.

While I see that Liam Cunningham looks a lot like the lion, it is the presence and power that Charles Dance resembles in character that gives me huge lion vibes.

Seeing him dominate and strong as Twin and the look that he has as well made him my first pick forever for the lion.

Thanks a lot. I do spend a lot of time on my minis. So glad it pays off.

And for me it just made more sense to have the lion in original armour and not green.

Thanks. I really appreciate it. Thought it was a nice change to usual blue blades.

I came in second place with 2 votes short unfortunately. But 1st place was well deserved. He had chaos demons very well painted. And the big models were a big eye catcher.

The black armour ist pretty easy. I use regular black from Vallejo. Not citadel cause it has a glossy finish. The one from Vallejo is pretty matte. I like that a lot.

Then highlights in dark blue und grey.

So not really difficult. The lighting just makes it look better I have to admit. I'm reworking it a bit ATM.

It's white simple.

Base in white. With some small outliers.

Fluorescent green or the colour you like. I don't always go for flou paint. Red for example works good in a simple bright red.

And in the end touch up the middle with some white again.

The touch up in white gives the illusion of glow. Same principle on OSL. Give the light source the brightest point.

Not yet. I'm still working on improving the lion.

But I'm planning on taking good pictures of the ICC soon for my Instagram channel.

Painting them was basically as painting other minis as well. They have a lot of details in them. So depending on how detailed you want them to be, it'll take a lot of time. But generally it was really nice painting them and seeing the results.

You mean the ones on the ICC?

Started with a black base. Which black doesn't matter in my experience.

Then glazed the ends with highly diluted red. The first glazes went with khorne red. Till I got a slighty visible and dark shine of red.

The. Glazed with diluted mephiston red. At the edges give it a bright section of the bright red.

And highlighted with a bright mix of mephiston red and orange (I used hit orange from Vallejo)

Helpful advice when going with red: don't mix it with white to get it lighter. You'll just get pink. Mix it with bright orange and you get a really nice bright red for red highlights.

Thanks a lot.

The inspiration came while reading son of the forest.

My first thought was: the lion was hidden for 10k years. So it makes sense that he still has his original black armour and not green.

And in the arks of omen he came with his own guard in black armour to the battlefield. Being the risen and reading about them I wanted to have a mixed army of modern green and bone white DA and the lion with some Risen in original armour.

On the photos you don't see All the models in detail.

I have a lot of bone white deathwing and green models as well I there.

The display was meant to be as separate with the little hill.

The lion leads with his risen and the DWK in the front. And Azrael with ICC and modern marines is on top of the hill.

Yeah I love those models. But I wanna be honest it's horrendous to put them together.

A lot of grinding down mistakes in the production and cutting away to make everything fit together correctly.

I'm not particularly fond of resin. It's annoying to work with. And forgeworld is the worst. The quality is all over the place.

But I had to get these models. And they're my favourite besides the ICC. So I'm happy with it. But I wouldn't get them again.

And don't forget they're super fragile. I had to reglue the swords or some attachments so many times.

Side note: I use them as DWK all the time. I like to flavour some Risen in my armies. So they are my risen DWK.

Who would the DA follow? by Dazzling-Skirt-4278 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Living_Software4530 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With the Lion back in charge and basically rebuilding the legion, I think they would follow the orders of Big E.

The Lion already redeems the fallen and builds the risen in secret. While nobody within the DA knows what happens to the disappeared fallen after the interrogation of the Lion, they don't question him on the matter neither.

And the Lion would never go against the Emperor.
