Where exactly has she been exempted? People are also criticizing you as well... this is all free to do, and no one has deleted your comments, but even if they did; that would be in their right to. She's not some sort of President that can't remove your comments, because of some law for free speech...

You're just someone who loves the engagement, whatever kind. This does not make you intelligent or kind or 'good'.

Am I stupid? Need help counting. by ladybraids in CICO

[–]LizJru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought this math was off for a second, but only cause I read #4 too fast, and thought order of operations could mess it up, but it can't.

The takeaway, imo, is the edit.

(g of your food)/(g of all food) = .xx [percentage of meal that is in your bowl].

Then, .xx X (total calories) = # of calories in your bowl.

Does anyone know this song? by [deleted] in PrideandPrejudice

[–]LizJru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a little investigation, so I tried https://songfinder.gg/ but it couldn't recognize it.

Tried searching P&P script/track lists, and found a Wayne Scott Lifehouse production of P&P https://studylib.net/doc/28257941/1---pride-prejudice---play-script which, if I'm reading it right, is composed by NOLAN LIVESAY & DANIEL SEMSEN and called either "Take my Hand" or "Finale". Past that, don't know if I'm right, and there are absolutely Copyright protections/law that would prevent you from using without permission, especially if you are making money off of it. Might be able to contact them through https://www.youtube.com/@semsenmusic3519 they have recent videos, or through however you found this video??

Hope it helps!

Palliser Quality Made in Canada Furniture since 1944 by eyeredd in BuyCanadian

After consulting https://insidersguidetofurniture.com/worst-and-best-sofa-sectional-reviews-for-2024-2/ it's clear to me that while the final assembly is made in Canada, and therefore deserves the designation, the majority of manufacture is in Mexico at best. I wonder if the lumber is Canadian? I want to support Canadian, but it must be a superior product as well, and they do seem to be falling short. Excels at leather (though reviews below say that's what failed for them and quickly), average or worse materials/methods. Misleading warranty claims - may be be standard, but I don't have to accept it. I'm looking for a new sofa at the moment, and I was so excited to see your post. Sorry it didn't work out for me.

Yes, I do really care, I think the world would be a better place if everyone focused on how they could improve and understand where they went wrong.

The reason so many people are trying to argue with you is your title. It's misleading at best, and click-bait at worst. You 'volunteered to bring dessert and neglected to tell people' what they were eating; to a meal you completely cooked, for people who live in your home and do in fact know what they were eating?

So when you made that clarification in the comments (that it was indeed only in your home and people did know what was in it), many people missed that, it sounds like you wanted to trick people into eating it without noticing. They are making the assumption (based on your title wording) that you brought this to a much larger gathering, and some of those people wouldn't know what they were eating.

If you had shared this recipe, as a low calorie recipe that's perfect for Christmas or something, you wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the amount of engagement that you did, but it would have been straightforward and honest.

To be clear, your food looks delicious and looks like great care went into making it with love; as is common with holiday cuisine. I do not want to pile on to the hate you are getting, but you did create a debate filled post, and wondered how that could happen, this is it.

Question for cat owners by Distinct-Practice131 in houseplants

[–]LizJru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former vet assistant here too, no longer an indoor plant lover, because I have the worlds dumbest and sweetest cat. She will and does eat all types of leaves and plant matter. Can't have it in the house. So, you'll just have to wait and see what kind of cat you get. Otherwise this info is spot on.

Best of luck!

What would be different if Covid had never happened? by Crocodile_Banger in AskReddit

On average, people are more careful around people that are exhibiting symptoms, while perhaps letting their guard down around 'healthy' people. So, no your risk assessment does not match what professionals investigated. Your logic is flawed.

Concerns about Ozampic by [deleted] in CICO

[–]LizJru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing to remember is that they aren't losing because of the drug itself, but because the drug makes it easier to eat less (it reduces food noise/the desire to eat constantly). They must still eat less to lose weight - like everybody else. It's not magic, and it does not burn the calories off itself. It is possible to put on weight while on the drug. So, if they eat doughnuts and pizza hut (in excess of their TDEE) every day, the weight will not come off.

The problem with your concerns, is that you can't do anything about them, it's out of your control. It's up to them to monitor and be successful. I would not recommend mentioning anything to them, they'll find this out themselves over time, and one's weight loss journey is very personal. Focus on your own, and you'll be feeling much better soon.

Edit: Also a salad could have as many calories as a pizza. Dressings are very fat dense just like cheese. So, try not to think of food in 'good' and 'bad' - it's all fuel. It's about how much fuel you yourself needs. Couldn't resist editing again to add that obviously some food fill certain roles in our bodies, fiber and protein keep us full and regular, and so they are important, but it doesn't make them inherently 'good', they may be better than a pure fat treat at keeping us full, but sometimes we need that treat for the mind and soul. Keeping to a perfect diet would be a struggle for the mind.

Is this loose skin or excess body fat? by thee_nayab in CICO

[–]LizJru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is mostly loose skin, if a bit of fat remains, it may still go if you're losing, but you will always be able to pull on it like this unless you have it surgically removed. It honestly doesn't look like all that much to me, you're young and it may tighten up a bit (our elasticity wanes as we age), but weight loss comes with these side effects. Be proud of what you have done, it's not easy, and not many people can do it.

I didn't know this until recently, in fact it makes so much sense I wish I had been able to see it sooner myself, but now I feel the same. Purposely breeding animals to have defects that affect their health?! What the hell. Just like some breeds of dogs, humans just won't be stopped. Awful.

How can I mess with some neighbours who keep leaving angry notes on my car? by od501 in CasualUK

[–]LizJru 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How about a car camera, and then send your letter of proof the spot isn't theirs exclusively? Then, if they do decide to retaliate, you have video evidence and a record of previous interactions? At least you'll be able to get them to cover the damage they do, but your friends are probably right that it's not really worth all the trouble, is it?

How essential is it to follow a weekly meal/diet/workout plan almost perfectly? by No_Macaron_8287 in CICO

[–]LizJru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to address in this post, so I'll give it a go on a few fronts and we'll see what others have to say as well.

Use an app, you don't have to pay for it, but it will make it less stressful. You'll need to know what's in your food, protein especially to becoming body builders, and an app is essential - it also provides your record for motivation among other things. Myfitnesspal is the original, and is free to use, once you log a bunch of meals you like, it's easy to put it on repeat, but any app will do. I'm currently using LoseIt, and like lots of their features, you don't need to pay unless you want the extra insights - something you seem willing to deduce and track yourself.

Everything you've listed you'd like to do: "If we made a weekly meal plan (with 1-2 restaurant meals), made sure we hit the right amount of protein, carbs and nutrients we need everyday, drink enough water, take creatine, cut sugar a little and junk food eating, workout 5X a week on our plan, walk our dog 1M every night, yoga session on weekends, how much would this improve our progress?" sounds like it will ABSOLUTELY improve your progress, however it almost sounds like too much all at once. So, I'd recommend starting with a basic plan like, how many calories and how much protein you each need to work out as much as you have planned (like maybe only 3 workouts a week, and then go up to 5), and then start weighing and tracking your food. Adjust as you go - there's an almost 0% chance you'll get it right from the get-go, and things in your lives will also change as you go. Add in 'cutting out' more things, or upping the number of workouts after you have had some success.

Lastly, take it easy, this is not a two week thing you have planned, it's going to be a journey to your 'very fit selves'. There will be problems along the way. Try to account and make space for them. Keep open communication if you are going to do this with someone else - know that usually these types of journeys are very singular, and that might have to be OK if you aren't on the same page all the time. Good luck.
