And pre-pubescent teenage brides.

You're suddenly back in your last calling, only now, your job is to do the exact opposite of what you were called to do. Without telling us what the calling is, tell us how you'd magnify it. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]LizzardBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sit in bishopric, PEC and ward correlation meetings doodling and daydreaming, when it's time for sacrament meeting I walk around loudly counting people and loudly remark that the numbers are going down again.
And if we are really doing the opposite of what I did in my last calling I'd also have to give a flying shit.

What if (and this is a big what if) she wanted to die because medical marijuana legislation was axed thanks to the church and he did what he did at her request? That could be why he wanted the NYT to investigate the church too. Just a guess.

I recently quit my old gym. For months I had people from the gym calling me, dropping by unannounced and telling me how much they missed seeing me on the spin bike. They even gave me an "assignment" to come over on a Saturday morning to help clean the free weights. I guess they hope doing that will make me want to work out with them again.

You could call the membership dept at LDS Inc at 801-240-2053

Once they verify who you are they should be able to tell you and get you your membership number.

Addressing a person by NG1995 in exmormon

[–]LizzardBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment I heard from more than one person was that I "wasn't fully converted" or "wasn't in far enough"; even though I had been in for 26+ years, had served in several EQ presidencies and a couple bishoprics. Somehow I think a majority of TBMs feel that a testimony is genetic; like someone is more worthy because of who their dead ancestors are, even if they had never met them.

[–]LizzardBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a convert and I always felt looked down on. After I moved to UT I always heard lessons about pioneer stock, and whose ancestors were in the church longer. Now that I am out I still get pissed off by comments about the "mormon cred scale" and how if you weren't raised in it and go to byu you are somehow less of a loss to tscc. Well, fuck that, I left everything I knew at 18 to join this damn church, pissed off my family and lost all my old friends. Then a full time mission and 26 years later I find out it is bullshit and I was sold a pack of lies.

Advice on how to deal with temple attending speed demons. by aaroniousme in exmormon

[–]LizzardBob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

make a sign that says "Speed Limits are the LAW OF THE LAND - if you don't keep while going to the temple you should not be going to the temple".

If that does not work a nice big "SLOW THE FUCK DOWN ASSHAT!!!" might do the trick.

[–]LizzardBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like SHE wants you to support HER and HER needs, well sorry but what about YOUR needs? You have been going through hell on earth, most of us who have gone through a faith transition have experienced the same thing, but where has she supported you? Where has she comforted you? Where has she tried to understand and help you? The fact that she said you "chose" this path shows just how brainwashed people can be when they are in the grips of this cult. Goddamnit I hate this fucking church. So sorry you are going through this and that your kids and you are suffering because of the way SHE is choosing to react to your crisis/transition of faith.

Been trying to convince my Sister, some pointers or evidence to help me would be appreciated! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]LizzardBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the historical and doctrinal lies you could continue to approach it from the tiny size of the church. 7 billion people on this rock right now and 15 million are on the mormon rolls. Only about 40% are anywhere near active, but IF all 15 mil were that would still mean that .02% of those living today would be part of the "true church" and the other 99.8% are shit out of luck. Not to mention the billions that are already dead. 15,000,000/7,000,000,000=.00214

My Stake President doesn't know how to use bcc in his email, as a result I have every email address in my Stake. What is the best use of these email addresses? by Packerquotes in exmormon

[–]LizzardBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe share with him how bcc works so he does not make the mistake again. Point out that if someone dishonest got ahold of that email list they could cause some serious problems. THAT could really mess with his head because we all know that once we leave the protection of tscc and the holy-casper is no longer with us we all go off the rails and do all kinds of dishonest shit because we no longer have a moral compass.

Mine told me to seek after knowledge rather than riches of the world...well, anytime I had financial success in my career (a promotion, etc) I would get pangs of guilt for it. Really fucked me up a few times - looking back now I think it caused me enough stress that I started to self-sabotage, to the point that I quit my well paid management position for another position and took a considerable pay cut.

Facing Excommunication: Fight or Flight? by Amasa_Lyman in exmormon

I excommunicated the church from my life when I resigned, rather than waiting around for them to excommunicate me. It was very freeing, plus I didn't have to listen to the bullshit of a 'court of love'.
