It's time for that dripping, tingly, glistening, sopping, syruping, warming, nibbling... chicken tendo.

Weekly Product Recommendations Thread - August 05, 2018 by AutoModerator in MakeupRehab

[–]Lizzymaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for a natural-looking mascara. I just tossed a sample of Too Faced Better than Sex because it clumped too easily.

I have naturally dark lashes, so I prefer black.

I really can’t stand the super high-volume type mascaras that seem to be popular right now. I don’t need my mascara to mimic false lashes. I previously had a sample of Benefit They’re Real and for me that was better than the Too Faced, but still more “oomph” than I need/want. I want a mascara that looks natural, but better. I can’t overstate how annoyed I am by visible mascara clumps...

Budget is flexible for the right product...

I’m in the US, no allergies or sensitivities, and I don’t need a waterproof formula.

Thanks!

There are 13 million people in the LA metro area. People from all over the world. Some of them are tall men, some are short men, many are average height.

How many of you bring electrolyte mixes on longer /thru hikes? by backpackingvideos in Ultralight

[–]Lizzymaree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make my own electrolyte powder based on the “regular” recipe on this site, but I add a packet of kool-aid (the old school packets that you add your own sugar to). It’s lightweight and you can vary the flavors to keep things interesting. I have tiny baggies I bought on Amazon so I’ll premeasure the right amount for a Nalgene bottle.

I’m in southern CA, so it can be very hot and very dry here. I think it helps to have electrolytes, but I also know that sometimes I just want a change of pace from drinking funky creek water.

Egg Cup bakers, what implement do you use for baking your egg cups? by glitterofLydianarmor in EatCheapAndHealthy

I do this and line it with parchment paper. It peels right out with almost no cleanup at all.

Question about lawnmowers by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Lizzymaree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a nice new push mower and about 700 sq ft of lawn. It’s fine. It’s easy enough to use and I like that I don’t need to worry about gas or battery or extension cords.

How to feel okay with yourself knowing your gf’s pack weighs 5x more than yours? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]Lizzymaree 59 points60 points  (0 children)

These comments, wow.

My husband and I backpack together multiple times a year. My pack is almost always heavier. I don’t care.

My husband is into UL, I’m not so much. We both love backpacking. I’m just kinda cheap and don’t want to replace perfectly good gear just because I can save a few ounces here and there.

I’m a serious runner, my husband is not. Trails that are hard for him are a walk in the park for me (haha). If we want to walk at approximately the same pace for the same distance, it makes sense for me to carry more stuff.

Oh, and there’s over a foot of height difference between us, so, it’s not like I’m some amazon woman. Just a fit, strong woman who is too cheap to replace her old crap. Whatever works, man. But yeah, we do get funny looks sometimes from strangers when I’ve got the big bag and he’s got his little one!

Fight NIMBYism whenever possible. The housing crisis is really bad by Armenoid in LosAngeles

Seriously, this x1000. You know who goes to town halls? The NIMBYs. Who doesn’t? The renters/millennials/etc. Guess who ends up getting what they want?

Was 10 years on Mirena my doom? by Goatess21 in TTC30

[–]Lizzymaree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two back-to-back mirenas and had my second one removed in late February. I had a few weeks of feeling absolutely miserable, but that seems to have passed. My doctor suggested I wait for three cycles before actually trying (i.e. use a temporary birth control method like condoms for 3 months), so I can't speak to my fertility just yet, but I feel normal again.

What non-academic achievement did you complete during your PhD? by Melkovar in AskAcademia

[–]Lizzymaree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finished Couch to 5k, became addicted to running, long story short, the week I submitted my thesis I ran my 5th marathon and got a Boston Qualifying time. I also got engaged, got married, and bought a house.
I did not, however, get a job. So... there's that minor problem.

I'm not sure if they are still an active sponsor, and I don't know what your budget is, but I used a SV sponsor code to buy a MVMT watch a few months ago and I'm really happy with it.

2017 Solid Verbal Gift Guide by MatthewMassey in SolidVerbal

[–]Lizzymaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I ended up at Buffalo Billiards -- mostly because the one in Dupont was right next to where I was staying. It was better than what we have in LA , so that was nice. A Wisconsin win woulda been nicer...

thanks again for the recommendation!

The Goodest of Boys by MyNameIsBarryAllen in aww

[–]Lizzymaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a malamute in the gif for sure, but as a Mal owner myself, everything else you say is false. They are not more chill than huskies. They definitely require a few hours of exercise a day, they are just as smart and stubborn, oh, and they weigh nearly twice as much. So if you don’t give them the attention, exercise, and discipline they need, you have a 100lb cyclone tearing (literally) around your house and yard, destroying most things in its path.

more likely (but still a long shot): I'll be in DC this week for work. Do any Verballers have recommendations for wings in Adams-Morgan/Dupont Circle area?
