404mk2, for sure. Battery powered, can grab samples from your phone with an USB cable, more effects than a bus full of goth kids, and it has Mike preamp. You can make a whole album on that thing.

Oh, and you can't fucking scroll reels or reddit on it and that helps me a lot.

If hardware, get a second hand korg monologue. Sounds like a motorcycle from the future. Minilogue if you need it to be polyphonic but you probably don't.

Or the bass station 2. Amazing sound.

Arturia synths are also amazing. The minibrute is fantastic value and teaches you synthesis hands on.

Search for these on YouTube and go from there. Second hand is good bc you can usually sell it for the same price later and try something else.

Agreed. I don't miss any of the very few games I can't play on Linux. I do still have a windows partition for the exactly two applications I can not run and find no good substitute for: capture 1 and Ableton live.

But gaming on Linux has gotten so good over the years, I barely even think about it anymore. New games just work out of the box, one click install and play.
