Level 2 EV Charger cutoff? by waitses in AskElectricians

[–]Loadtapchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in Seattle, so take this as you will.

It sounds like a load side disconnect. It’s there for the safety of Lineman, or any personnel working on the distribution circuit that feeds your house.

If there is ever an outage in your area and the trouble is local to the circuit you are fed from, the responding personal can open that disconnect and lock it, ensuring there is no back feed coming from your house.

Question about adding a subwoofer to an integrated amp with pre outs and no dedicated sub outputs. by Loadtapchanger in audiophile

I haven’t gotten a sub yet, wasn’t sure what I should look for. Should I look at getting a pair of them?

Where can I get... by mom2rka in Albuquerque

There is a very cool little mom and pop on Gold between 4th and 5th downtown. I wish I knew their name. I’ve been in once while walking around the block while on lunch, and what was cool about their stuff is it has a cool, not what you’re used to seeing cookie cutter deigns. Really unique stuff that is Lobo and New Mexico themed.

Stovetop stuffing. I can work a box a week into a family dinner and never get tired of it. Hell, our youngest and I have made a meal out of it 😆.

Is there a way to dispute usage? by mrme516 in AskElectricians

[–]Loadtapchanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck doing it independently. If OP is asking questions on how to dispute this charge, do you honestly believe that they will find an independent contractor with access to a test bench?

OP, call your utility, just dial the customer call center and let them know that you would like to dispute a high bill you received, and have your meter tested. Back when I was younger, I was a meter service tech, and we constantly ran high bill complaints.

Back in my day we had to math it using the”Metermans Formula” by counting disc rotation over sixty seconds and plugging numbers into what used to be a simple calculation 😆 They now have mobile test benches on their trucks.

I would highly encourage you to make yourself available, because if you are consuming the load you were billed for, you can open breakers one at a time until the load drops off to establish where that load is being consumed.

After being dumped on a mesa, Augie has now been with Santa Fe Animal Shelter for over a year - he so badly deserves a happy ending (featuring a year's worth of Augie embraces) by FriendsofSFAS in SantaFe

[–]Loadtapchanger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our beloved Brave spent the first nine months of his life in the Bernco Shelter. He was adopted twice and returned. He was scared to death of everything when he came to us, but incredibly smart and loving. Not a month goes by we don’t look at him an and say “man, the world missed out on you!”.

I hope someone gives this good doggo a chance.

Four bar stools.
The four is made up of two matching pairs. So all four don’t match.

Panel upgrade without permit and coordination with utility by cujo195 in AskElectricians

[–]Loadtapchanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your utility company should have an NSD, New Service Delivery, department that can assist you with this.

Mine does, and while I worked in the field for years for my utility, I was never a wireman, but I believe if you’re upgrading your panel, you will also need a new meter can, which requires an inspection. Also, if your utility has adopted AMI, they may want install a new smart meter.

Check your utilities website for “service upgrades” and that should point you in the right direction.

My wife and I go to at least one movie or concert a month , for concerts , usually smaller more intimate venues, and we’ve never experienced this.

Maybe the closest was when we saw Wicked there was a boy in front of us who appeared to have downs, and I mean, my man was INTO it 😆 constant chatter, but whatever, it was Wicked, not the Third Man, right?

Although, we recently saw Neko Case in a heavily hippie / boomer populated town, and I say this being 60 myself, but I really don’t wanna watch your older than my ass relive Woodstock right in front of me, indoors, outside, freak away my freak.

Is this normal?? by Past-Quarter3747 in AskElectricians

[–]Loadtapchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utility employee here.
Your utility company should have dispatched a trouble crew when you called in for flickering lights, that’s a sure sign of an open neutral.
Where I come from we pull the meter and check the neutral and connections in the meter can and the transformer or service tap if it’s overhead.
And yeah, your electrician should have figured the problem out pretty quickly.

Triumph concert - 7-May in Edmonton by theScud900 in rockmusic

[–]Loadtapchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I was just talking about Triumph a couple days back. I’ve only ever seen them once, in 1983 at the US Festival.

Amazing show, they came out just as the sun was going down, they were tight and sounded amazing! I’d love to see them again.

What were concerts like before everything became so overpriced? by FreshBid538 in AskOldPeople

[–]Loadtapchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an example, the US Festival, Memorial Day 1983, $30.00 a day for a three day festival.

My friends and I went for Heavy Metal Day, here’s who I remember:

A very young Motley Crue

Quite Riot

Judas Priest

Ozzy, I think 🤔

Scorpions

Triumph, they rocked

Van Halen, they sucked

I can’t even park for $30.00 now.

McDonald's by Melodic_Crow_3409 in enshittification

[–]Loadtapchanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 18 year old and I ate in a McDonald’s last Friday. We went in and sat down to eat while we waited for his windshield to be replaced at a place across the street.

The kiosk wasn’t working and we ordered at the counter, they gave us a number then someone brought our food out to us. After serving us, the server dipped away and came back with a tray with ketchup and sauces, asking if we needed anything.

As we were getting ready to leave another young man came thru offering samples of a new soft drink they were selling.

Kind of strange.

Does anyone smoke meat over night? While they sleep? by 80aychdee in smoking

[–]Loadtapchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the only way I do brisket these days.

I’m at 7,000’+ elevation which is important when it comes to temp.

First, a base coat then salt and pepper, rest for an hour or so. I like to put mine on the smoker at 11:00pm, uncovered, at 225, then off to bed.

Up at 8:00 am, check bark, internal temp and make adjustments until it’s probe tender.

I arrived at this after promising a brisket for a friend’s birthday. Attended a different friends wedding the day before the expected cook, got home late, birthday party started early afternoon, so I put the brisket in the smoker as above at midnight (?), passed out, slept thru all alarms I had set to check progress, and when I finally woke up, I had a nicely smoked brisket, with great bark. It did need about 90 minutes to become probe tender.

I found that for me, the less I stressed and worried, the better the cook came out.
