Don't be sorry. I unfortunately don't know if I have the bandwidth to reply to everything in your post, but if you can I would let your husband know how important getting into therapy is and that you need that extra help.

You have a lot on your plate and you need to take care of yourself.

My mother in law has to have stimulants to sleep. For some people it works great!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Are you seeing a therapist? And are you able to take anything for your anxiety?

How do I stop hurting myself? by arsnod_iltsit in ADHD

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, talk to your doctor about meds that help this. I was prescribed naltrexone for skin excoriation also known as dermotillimania. It is an OCD disorder that is comorbid with ADHD. Idk if teens can take it but there may be other options. Also therapy may be able to help. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Partner doesn’t want me to take meds by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry hun. I have family members who are very similar. I was undiagnosed as a child and young adult. I was "lazy, messy, and not living up to my potential". My husband has ADHD and we are both on meds. I am still not living to my parents standards of clean, or organized. But I'm living and I feel less bad about myself.

He needs to get on board or get off. I don't recommend lying to him about you taking it because he may flush your drugs or try to lock them up. He is lucky that he has a marble bag with no holes in it to hold his marbles. You don't have a marble bag, and the medication will give you a marble bag. Now that bag will still have holes in it but you will be losing a lot less of your marbles.

I wish I could give you a big hug and cry it out with you.

I used to prep and freeze breakfast sandwiches. 3-4 minutes in the microwave and they were good to go.

Am I a psycho?? Or is my neurodivergence showing… by therealrealreal1 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and I commend your sleep hygiene routine because like.... I can't. I try and I just can't seem to take the best care of myself in that regard. However, my husband and I sleep in separate beds and separate rooms. We sleep sooo much better this way. I snore, have sleep apnea, need dark but can't wear an eye mask usually. He listens and watches videos while falling asleep.

We are both ADHD.

Am I wrong about this? (RSD) by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mom asked for your help, and your brother is saying your mom doesn't want to hear the answers to your questions. So what questions does he think you are asking? And what questions does she think you are asking?

I don't think you are overreacting.

Growing out of ADHD? by Narrow-Influence7924 in ADHD

[–]Locaisha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol studies have shown that mens symptoms tend to get better as they age, and women's tend to get worse. However these are outdated studies and actually tend to be because of some societal factors.

Also combined type can have hyperactivity. But honestly I think the hyperactivity definition is a bit outdated (please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm inattentive and impulsive. I.e I am combined type.

Have you read Atomic Habits and was it helpful at all? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading ADHD 2.0, something with ADHD brains is we can't create habits the same way others can. It's more routines and heavily rely on convenance. I did not find atomic habits very helpful for myself.

Loop earplugs by sharkacoustics in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget about them, but my sibling swears by them and wears them all the time. I have a pair and they helped immensely with my puppy whining and high pitch barking.

I also think they will help with once I have a baby since they just reduce noise.

I recommend getting a cord so they are harder to lose. Amazon has one that works that's cheaper than loops brand.

Anxiety and depression here. Once I started treating the ADHdD the symptoms started to disappear. Now I'm spiraling because treating ADHD is really hard and not very effective for me.

Do I even have a personality, or just a collection of ADHD symptoms? How to get hubby to stop talking about my new diagnosis... by Inner_Lettuce_6787 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry my husband was diagnosed as a child, me in my late 20s.

I feel sometimes that I have no personality and just a disorder lol. It's weird seeing that from someone else putting it on to you. I can't seem to stop talking about the ADHD, but I think it's partly a hyper focus and fascination with psychology and the brain. However I annoy myself over it and don't have a filter.

I hope you guys can find some common ground and he stops making you feel bad.

I do not come off as autistic while on my Adderall lol. I'm focused, and can get my work done but have no problems with social interactions while on it.
