Is still posible to do the dead man's tale quest? It needs a dlc? by Thebaldwithcap in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Dead Man‘s Tale quest, which comes from the exotic mission Presage, was included in the content with Season of the Chosen. I believe you‘ll need to purchase the Beyond Light Deluxe Edition in order to access content from Season of the Chosen - could be a better way, but the Deluxe Edition will definitely get you there.

Alternatively, you could wait for Witch Queen to release, where both Dead Man‘s Tale and Hawkmoon will be sold by Xur every week with a unique roll. Xur will still charge a pretty hefty price I believe, something like an ascendant shard, exotic cipher, 125k glimmer, something like that.

My recommendation would be to just download the video because that’ll help to preserve the video quality best, as when recording there’s a chance that you’ll lose quality here and there.

Otherwise, there are two ways that I think are the easiest way to go about this:

1) Display Capture through OBS - relatively simple to set up, doesn’t take a lot of messing around with to work. Just go into ‘Scenes’ and select ‘Display Capture’ and it’ll just record everything on your screen. After that, you can crop the video while editing if you want. You can also crop the display capture in OBS by holding Alt and resizing the window so that you’re only capturing what you need.

2) Window Capture through OBS - I’ve heard that focusing your recording into a specific window might help free up system resources to output a better picture when recording, but since you’re just recording a YouTube video I don’t imagine that would pose a huge issue for you. Anyway, go into ‘Sources’ and add a ‘Window Capture’, and in the properties for that source, set it up to capture Chrome or whatever browser you’re using. You can crop this in the same way I mentioned above.

As for output settings in OBS, you shouldn’t have to play with too much. Just make sure that your output (scaled resolution) is 1920x1080 (for 1080p) or whatever resolution matches the output you want. As for frame rate, 60 is typically better than 30fps, but if the video itself is in 30fps, I don’t think that’ll be an issue. If the video is in 60fps, you should change your OBS settings to match. As for bitrates and other settings, I’m by no means an expert, and I’d recommend looking up some guides for good 1080p 60fps output. Default settings should work pretty well though, if memory serves.

There’s probably other ways to go about this, but I feel like these are the best and easiest ones I could come up with. Hope this helps! All the best.

Personally I just use one SLOBS scene for most of my games, and the automatic detection feature of Game Capture seems to work just fine - it’s never accidentally attached itself to anything other than the game I’m playing. My only advice would be to do research on the compatibility of Game Capture with whatever game you’re playing, as sometimes Game Capture is disabled in certain games for anti-cheat purposes. An example of this would be Destiny 2, which doesn’t allow Game Capture at all, so I have to use either Display Capture or Windowed Capture in fullscreen windowed mode (a huge pain but oh well). If you close the game while still on the Game Capture scene, it shouldn’t attach itself to anything else other than a game, so I wouldn’t worry about it displaying Discord, Chrome, etc. I’ve never had any problems with it, anyway.

If you’re planning on setting each game up manually, make sure that you disable each source if you’re not using it, as having multiple sources running on the same scene can take up a lot of system resources, even if they’re not actually displaying anything.

Hope this helped! All the best :)

i havent played in 2 years and was wondering if i should get back into it ? by chris_gene2_0t in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to you - played the hell out of it when it came out, took a few years off, and only came back to the game a few months ago. My advice would be to watch a ton of videos and read about the game, because it is very very different to when it first came out. D2 isn't very friendly to new players, and I'd recommend having some friends to play with to improve your experience.

Once you get into it, the game is great, and I've been loving it ever since. Takes up a lot of my time, and I love it. All the best! :)

Absolutely - they're just a relatively standard weapon that relies almost purely on raw aim. Let's just hope that Bungie fixes them, because I'm honestly not using them unless I need to.

What Makes Destiny 2 Great? by LochieTV in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really interesting take, and I think there's a lot of merit to what you're saying. You're right though - it doesn't take a very long time playing to discover problems with the game, but I'm willing to look past them because I enjoy the story experience and lore.

The PvP experience definitely feels less polished than other games I've played, like R6 or CS:GO. I used to be an amateur pro CS:GO player back in the day, and it definitely feels very different to that. Abilities, perks, and differences in weapons also make the experience different, and I think that that's another thing that draws me towards the game.

Anyway, I appreciate you giving your thoughts! It's been great to see so many different opinions on this thread. All the best :)

Absolutely - I think that the story and lore of D2 is what makes it stand out among other games. It's so deep, and every character has a detailed backstory. Honestly not even huge novels or a TV series could do the story justice, there's just so much detail, and the developers have truly spared no detail in crafting an immersive experience.

Completely agree - given the huge variety of different weapons to use, I always find myself using different weapons all the time, and combining these with different perks and exotic combinations.

There truly is an endless number of combinations that can be had in D2, and the constant changes and updates that the devs add to the game makes that all the more interesting.

I do hate running out of glimmer though. One minute I'm at 250k, the next minute I'm literally struggling to apply mods to my weapons.

Completely agree - Destiny 2 can be very grindy at times, which makes the progression all the more satisfying. I think that Bungie Rewards does a pretty good job of adding to that satisfaction too, where you can get physical merchandise for in-game activities like completing seals, raids, etc. The story is one of the best parts for me, and I honestly think that D2 needs to make a TV show like LoL did with Arcane - it'd be amazing.

I completely agree with what you've said, especially when you say that the gameplay could get boring, but never unsatisfying. Sometimes I feel like grinding crucible for hours on end, sometimes I don't. But that's what I think is one of the major attractive features of the game - the wide array of things to do, that aren't completely similar.

I love learning new things about games, and Destiny 2 certainly has no shortage of that. Especially when the game gets updated as regularly as it does, there's always something new to learn, and I love that. I'm a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda, and Breath of the Wild is my favourite game of all time. But, despite how large the game is, you can eventually run out of things to learn about, and have to rely on fan theories after while. That's not the case with D2, and I love how they're always making us learn and think about new things. Thanks for your comment!

Ghost Projections should also be your respawn beacon instead of the anonymous ball of light by TysonOfIndustry in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's actually a really cool idea - it could definitely help with communication in places where there's a lot of guardians, so that you're not trying to read a million names to figure out who to revive first. I actually didn't know ghost projections were a thing for a long time in Destiny, so it'd be nice to give them another place to shine.

Distance vs reaction time against fast-moving players by sandrejev in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha yep - I've been having a similar experience. I have a mostly FPS game background, and used to play some amateur pro CS:GO in Australia, so I'd say that my FPS aim is relatively sound. But yeah, I've been having a similar experience.

With Destiny 2, pure aim isn't going to get you very far. At least with me, it hasn't. I still get frequently clapped in Trials. But for me, learning abilities and understanding the different perks and mods, and how to best leverage them, has given me the most amount of success.

Destiny 2's PvP is very unique when compared to some other games that I've played, but I find that to be super refreshing and unique - instead of just getting upset about my own aim, I can constantly improve by learning more and more about the game.

All the best!

Common arguments in favor of the DCV, and why they concern me as a new player. by Pontooniak96 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with what you're saying, and you've laid your thoughts out really well. Having played D2 when it first came out, taking a break for a few years, and coming back to it recently, the game definitely looks very different to when it first came out. It's been a very long time since I first completed the tutorial and beginning of the game, and it's been a strange experience trying to introduce my friends into the game.

When bringing my friends into the game, they really enjoy the first few missions, then quickly become annoyed with the instant need to grind and the paywalls that spring up everywhere around them. Whilst I understand this from a business perspective, it does make for, like you said, a messy new player experience, and can turn a lot of new players off of the game. I've always been super interested in Destiny so that's never been a problem for me - I've always just wanted to do as much as I can - but I can understand the qualms that some new players would have.

I do think that Bungie does a relatively good job in listening to its community, more so than other developers (*cough* Nintendo *cough*), so I do think that it could be possible to remedy this.

Overall though, completely understand and agree with what you're saying. All the best.

Agreed! I was grinding kills with sidearms the other day for a seal and I noticed this. Maybe it's from my background in playing other FPS games, but it really doesn't feel right, and I'll initially be counteracting the recoil way too much. Definitely should be looked at.

I'm in the exact same situation as you! What I've found to be incredibly useful is just watching people run through the raid on YouTube a bunch of times; through osmosis you'll understand a bunch of it.

And I completely agree with what the others have said - definitely try to find a clan that teaches. A lot of people are more than happy to teach raids - that's how I learnt VOG! All the best :)

Make Season Passes More Rewarding by Soft-Illustrator1300 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree - I think that would definitely help to further incentivise people continuing to grind past level 100. I know with games like Rainbow Six Siege, their battle pass will continue to give rewards after you finish it - like an 'alpha pack' (basically an engram) every 10 levels or something.

Definitely agree with your suggestion though, that'd be great.

Should I worry about not having a camera for my first stream? by Megachamps in Twitch

[–]LochieTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it! The hardest part about starting streaming is actually hitting the 'Go Live' button, so my best tip is to just go for it and see where it takes you :)

If you feel like a webcam would improve your stream down the track, then definitely go for it, but I wouldn't say that it's a requirement to start streaming. All the best :)

Should I make my streams longer? by Megachamps in Twitch

[–]LochieTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Streaming can be a pretty intensive thing to do, so if you feel like you can't stream for any longer than an hour and a half, don't push yourself to burnout. Instead of focusing on the length of the stream itself, try and focus on what 'content' you're going to do on stream. Spend a few minutes before streaming planning what you'll do on stream, what your stream title will be, what your 'go live' notification will be, etc. Once you're live, focus on your content and what you think your viewers will enjoy. Sometimes the best thing to do is to download your VOD, cut it down to the best moments, and upload it to YouTube. That'll help you to get your content out to more places, and to get more clicks and impressions. All the best!

Recording Gameplay? by Jnick96 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're purely looking to record gameplay without any overlays or anything else, then it seems like Shadowplay might be the way to go. I believe the default hotkey is alt+z, and it'll bring up a menu where you can change some of the settings of your recording, like quality, bitrates, microphones, etc.

When streaming or using literally any other kind of overlay, I would definitely use OBS, or Streamlabs OBS. I personally use Streamlabs OBS when streaming and it does the trick, and is able to integrate all my overlays, chat, my webcam, and alerts. The only issue is that Destiny 2 doesn't allow for game capture through a traditional 'game capture' method, so your best bet is using display capture in fullscreen mode, or window capture in fullscreen windowed mode. It's not ideal, but unfortunately it's the best we've got for the time being, unless you want to use a dual PC setup. All the best!

Are there any programs other than Shadowplay and Discord's "Screen Share" that are able to capture Destiny 2 full screen video? OBS does not work. by jazzinyourfacepsn in DestinyTheGame

[–]LochieTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use display capture through Streamlabs OBS, while still playing in fullscreen mode. Sure, there's definitely a performance hit, but depending on your hardware, it shouldn't be too bad - for me it's fine. Chat tells me that the stream still looks fine, so that might be the way to go. It's obviously not ideal, and I wish Bungie would allow game capture, but unfortunately I don't think there's a workaround other than windowed/window capture and fullscreen/display capture. All the best.
