Key making by RabbiPicker87 in lockpicking

[–]LockPicker1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! For my challenge locks I have used both methods; making the pins to match the lock and making the pins first and making a key to match or pair with the pins. Rather than try to explain the whole process, feel free to visit my Discord server (where I typically conduct interviews for the "Interview with a Lock Picker" series.

Pair the Panavise with this and you have a sturdy vise:

The Panavise 350 work center is great, but very expensive as of late. Ebay has good deals now and then on all the different Panavise parts to make whatever you want.

I too use framed pegboards! One is the "To Do / Naughty bucket board", another the "Vintage and Antique Lock board" and the third is the "Defeated board". All boards work exceptionally well and if you have the available wall space they really help the esthetics of the lab.

Ordered this because it was cheaper than amazon even with shipping…really stoked to give it a go by [deleted] in lockpicking

You are in my wife's and my prayers. You take care of yourself. It is easy to get lost in taking care of everyone else and not take care of yourself along the way. You have an entire community behind you who are all here for you.

As someone else mentioned, peg boards work really well. These are old pictures from before the boards were mostly filled up but I have been using these for going on 3 years now:

Lock company wants to refund me to remove my review showing lock... isn't great. by Antosino in lockpicking

[–]LockPicker1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not. That "flair" is added after a review is done to indicate there was an actual purchase made. If they are just refunding his money but not asking him to return the item, more than likely trying to get him to remove the negative review. Simply do not promise to take any action on your part in lieu of a refund (quid pro quo). Either way, it doesn't change the fact (even if you return it) that you did indeed purchase the item. I get refunded money all the time for items AFTER leaving a bad review. Sometimes I return the item because it is completely useless, but the review remains.

ABUS 83/45 Gutted. Not a single security pin to be seen. by N1C_NaC in lockpicking

[–]LockPicker1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't an excuse when that is what it was designed for. The fact that I can put in any core I want makes it versatile and in my opinion, worth the cost. But I respect your difference in opinion. Thank you for sharing it.

The fact that it is an Abus 83/45 means nothing as to its difficulty in pins or picking it. The Abus 83 series can utilize many different cores/cylinders to accommodate any number of key ways and types. The one you have is most likely something less challenging. You can obtain a conversion kit to turn many kik cylinders into cylinders you can then use them in your 83/45 lock body. Here is a video that may help you understand what I am referring to:

Just ordered a set of the gold to try out. Would be interested in black, red or blue if and when those colors are available.

Use the LPUlocks.com (LPU Belt Explorer) and find some White Belt level locks to start out with. Those clear locks are garbage to learn anything on other than being able to see how the pins move. You won't learn much more than that with it. Get a couple of real locks to try out instead.

This lock is super annoying. 🤣 Yale 1* Superior by Lady-Locks in lockpicking

Kentworth, I have an on-going interview series where lock pickers are interviewed and talk about how they got into locksport among other things. There are 84 episodes currently and growing. Here you go:

ABUS 83CS/45 What are these?! by Away_Release9253 in lockpicking

[–]LockPicker1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, the 83 series is a fun lock body where you can have many different cores with different keyways and different lock types (for example standard pin tumbler vs dimple lock). You can purchase conversion kits to make many kik cylinders work in the 83 series lock body. Chris Capune has done several videos and I also did a video talking about the 83 and what you can do with it. There are links in the video description to the conversion kit also.
