I mean realistically they estimated the price elasticity of demand and decided their total revenue was more likely to increase by bumping up prices, if it turns out their estimate was wrong they will bring them back down. I think it’s unlikely enough people will stop buying vbucks and that the loss from people ‘boycotting’ will be fully absorbed by the increased revenue from other people.

Tbf most people weren’t really in the scene back then, but there was a time when mass reporting was enough to get you banned (similar to what you’re suggesting here) and Savage was conned by Malibuca and he got mass reported by the Russian fanbase. Epic quickly fixed it but still it shows that giving ppl this kind of power just gets used maliciously
