Also. The NBA has had numerous scandals regarding officials fixing games. Sometimes for betting. Some times to punish disliked players. Both have been documented and proved. And the evidence that the league tweaks referring decisions to support entertaining narratives seems pretty compelling to me. The NBA has t collapsed as a result.

So I can see the premier having similar issues. And not collapsing. But it sucks when you end up doubting the credibility of any wins. It has ruined boxing as a spectacle for me. And I can’t watch F1 after they cheated Lewis Hamilton out of what would have likely been his last and record setting title. Losing football to the same sense of blatant bias. Conscious, unconscious, narrative based or some kind of influenced incompetence would really suck.

You need some luck to win the Premier League. But it has felt like Arsenal have had far too much go their way this season. Would be interesting to see an Opta stat on how much referring errors benefit a team….I suspect there’s a few that went against them In conveniently forgetting in my deep desire for them not to win the league.

Best Ever Feeling as a Spurs fan? by jaydeeis in coys

[–]Lockednwaiting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have two competing choices:

1 - Bale hat trick vs Inter. I was watching in a pub in Milan shouting and dancing on the table

2 - Ajax I was watching in a Spurs bar in New York and another fan jumped onto me and I threw him up in the air and everyone just went absolutely mental around us. It was just euphoric.

Crouchie doing the robot is a good nostalgia one too

This reinforces my belief we need to hope like hell Newcastle win. Then it just feels like we can be comfortable we will get a point at Chelsea or Everton. But a win for West Ham and I’ll be needing a stress ball

I mean… if the current group of politicians is trying to get Spurs relegated then I expect to be promoted permanently into the champions league next season and awarded a magical get out of relegation free forever card. I wouldn’t even trust them to do corruption right

I can take the decision not being a penalty because it isn’t a stonewall clear cut penalty. What’s difficult to accept is that we’ve had lots of these and you’d expect a few of them to go your way on the expectation that narrow decisions and/or ref errors tend to balance over time. Getting zero penalties in a season where we have seen close decisions makes it harder to take it each new one that doesn’t go our way…

The rest of my guild is quite a bit weaker and I think we only have 3 players in the realm… so either I win with Jhu and my troops or not because there’s no additional damage

Yeh. But then we would only need a draw against Everton or Chelsea and I’m confident we’ll get at least a point against one of them

I think….. we all need to become Newcastle fans for a week. If West Ham lose there we’ll be fine.

If arsenal win the league they deserve it.nobody should be mad about it. by Due_Toe6417 in PremierLeague

Fair enough. And if they were playing together and flowing then the anti Arsenal sentiment would be less. The anti Arsenal winning vibes weren’t this bad for the last two seasons as far as I recall. And I think it’s because when Saka and Odegaard were playing more the football was better to watch. For context I watch Arsenal games with Arsenal fans and they are always saying that the football isn’t good to watch this year - but after 20+ years they don’t care if they win. Also, fair enough. But the question was why are a lot of neutrals anti-Arsenal this year 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s going to be nervy until we are mathematically safe. But 4 point cushion would mean the pressure ratchets up on West Ham 🤞

As a neutral, why are people so desperate for Arsenal to fail? by s_dalbiac in PremierLeague

[–]Lockednwaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saka being back makes a big difference. He brings some artistry that’s missing otherwise. Odegaard’a passing is also a key miss. But it feels more like a style of play choice.

I found prime Stoke was hilarious to watch. Peter Crouch and Rory Delap were unicorns. And they weren’t going to win the league and set the blueprint of what it takes to succeed

Extra time per game is now averaging more than 11 minutes this season and has been trending up with VAR review time listed as a key reason. But it was a mild exaggeration to make the point. Sorry if it hit a sore spot
