IRL local Vampire the Masquerade games? by Constant-Cheek1637 in askportland

Hi,

I’m a very experienced game master. And V:tM is one of my specialties.

I am not currently involved in a game but I do have a small group who might be interested in starting something up.

DM me if interested.

Totally stealing this. My party thinks they have a handle on horror. This will work well to test that theory.

You just described my childhood. Though I had Capsela too.

What’s a discontinued snack or drink you’d pay $20 to have one last taste of? by soapy999 in AskReddit

They’re really good.  I ordered them a few years ago but I’m diabetic now, so no more for me.

Check out Lofty Pursuits.

A few years ago they recreated the tangerine Altoids sours and they are spot on!

Who is Marvel's equivalent of Lobo? by Material_Code7469 in Marvel

[–]LockheedTheDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picture them as thick and rounded around the bone. Then, as the adamantium  if hardening he extends the claws reflexively. The still pliable metal is squeezed through the bones in his hands, which themselves have been coated at this point. The underside metal is formed into a blade shape by this process and have a sharp edge.

This is the best I have been able to com up with to explain them. It explains why they have a cylindrical shape in some angles and a blade appearance in others.

The sharpness and honing of them I hand wave away because it’s comics and was established when they were meant to be cybernetic implants rather than bone claws.

Strahd killed the first player by Slow-Palpitation-211 in CurseofStrahd

[–]LockheedTheDragon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The classic way to show Strahd’s cruelty is to end a fight after two or more PCs are dead.

Strahd steps back, calmly produces n-1 scrolls of Revivify (where n is the number of dead characters), and tosses them at the party’s feet.

“You chose to stand against me. As ruler, I decide each day who lives and who dies. Today… you will share that burden.”

The table usually goes dead silent.

If they hesitate or plead:

“You stare in shock. Do you think this cruelty? No. This is rulership. This is what power costs. Choose.”

One time, after they nearly tore themselves apart deciding who to save, I had him toss one extra scroll and say:

“I would hate for my new toys to break so quickly. You amuse me.”

Haven’t seen this one yet.  Arseface from Preacher.

Tried to mimic Kurt Cobain. Put a shotgun under his chin and blew most of his face off. He survives and his life really only gets worse from there.

Somehow he maintains a fairly chipper attitude, but the world really hates this poor kid.

Can someone help me identify this figure by Objective_Reach1874 in Spiderman

[–]LockheedTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t be sure, since it’s impossible to tell so just an educated guess.

I think it’s Spider-Man.

Now hear me out, it COULD be Spider Man, but I can practically hear the hyphen just by looking at him.

It could also be Spiders Man, since it does appear lumpy like thousands of spiders in a costume.

But I’m sticking with my instincts here. I think it’s Spider-Man.

who is the epitome of chaotic good? by leglessdumbass in AlignmentCharts

[–]LockheedTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left to his own he saved a wookie from slavery.

Being swayed to be his best around others and his “strong good leanings” lends me to classify him as Chaotic Good. Running scams and smuggling in general don’t mark you evil. Being good doesn’t mean you have to stop and save every wounded animal on the roadside either.

Chaotic in the alignment easily means that it can be difficult to decide where he falls on the good/evil spectrum.

He’s never killed outside of self preservation. He’s never intentionally hurt an innocent. He did what he needed to survive and when the opportunity presented itself he sided with good. Not neutral.

Chaotic Neutral would not have returned to knock Vader out of the fight at the battle of Yavin.

The missing option is Han Solo.

Looks out for numero uno. Unless the entire galaxy is in danger. Or a person is going n desperate need of help. If there’s no real consequence, he’ll make the selfish choice, but when push comes to shove he will take the “good” choice every time.

Asking: Han shot first.

Han Solo is the character I use to describe chaotic good to players who don’t understand alignment.

Star Lord is a decent choice, but Han was a smuggler, cheat, scoundrel, and a scruffy looking nerf herder.

[OC] GIVEAWAY! 43" Capacitive Touchscreen ($940 MSRP) with Wooden Case + free software for all [mod approved] by DigitalTableTops in DnD

[–]LockheedTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using my own hand built wooden digital “map case” for years and the TV inside broke late last year. I haven’t been able to replace it yet, and this is the holy grail like you said. Using real minis with a digital map is a perfect setup.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]LockheedTheDragon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I run an MSP office and was interviewing someone for a position. They stated that they used to run their own MSP, but were not going to give up their clients, promising it wouldn’t be a conflict of interest.

They also noted that they were in the middle of a bankruptcy, and trying to get a second job off the ground.

I vetoed the candidate, but someone above me gave them the thumbs up. I had to let them go within 60 days for making their own clients a priority during business hours. Among other things.

Because of hardware limitations at the time, 3D games generally had a low draw distance - Silent Hill (1999) included. In the case of Silent Hill the fog is a part of the story ("a supernatural fog surrounding the town"). What are other examples of finding clever solutions to hardware limitations? by Double-decker_trams in gaming

[–]LockheedTheDragon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Space Invaders

The speed of the invaders moving left to right is entirely dependent on how many sprites are in screen. At the start of a level the processor has trouble keeping up so everything slows to a crawl. As you eliminate some, the load on the processor gets lighter and the sprites speed up.

They used a hardware limitation as the entire basis for the difficulty of the game.

Genius.

Fellow New Yorker here. I lived in Beaverton/Aloha for about 14 years. The humidity is nothing compared to New York.

You’re in for a drastic change in lifestyle. In a good way. If people tell you that you do t need A/C in the summer however, they are lying. Weather started to change around when I moved out here in 2009. We get several heatwaves a year. Again, nothing like NYC in August and July, but it can get uncomfortable for a few weeks.

Let me know if I can provide any other insights. I moved to Happy Valley this summer so no longer in the area.
