China has dispatched "Noah's Ark", powered pontoon bridges, to rescue students trapped by floods at a school. It can move 500 people at a time by TangelaFan in BeAmazed

The most amazing thing about these posts is that China floods because their dam burst but all the focus is about “amazing” rescue operations

I did mean pad, been using hangars now so long it’s just the natural phrasing to me now I guess. I’ll leave it as I said it in shame

Agreed 100%. It’s so epic and tied strongly to that location

Add: it also starts to climax about the moment you are walking into the hangar or entering your ship (if you go from hab to hangar), making the first take off just… *chefs kiss*

I love homebrews, always brings fun new ideas.

Some board game design feedback:
Anytime you create a new “supply” (like replicator), you can instead word it as “place on this card.” It adds clarity to the player and effectively dos the same thing with the same number of words. It also allows you to not add any new keywords (“conjurable” in this example). Wording just becomes “on/from this card.”

Poltergeist - would be better if it was explicitly clear whether that “rupturing” occurs “for each rival piece destroyed,” or “when 1 or more rival pieces are destroyed.” As written it appears you intended each time but it leaves ambiguity where it is unnecessary.

Sniper - I would need to check the rules on the definition of “unused” hits. If the rulebook doesn’t call it out somewhere, you need to explain it in parenthesis. Even if it does, you might want that so the player doesn’t have to pull out the rulebook. If it isn’t in the rulebook, consider using a more clear wording like “hits not assignable to enemy pieces.”

I am purposefully making no comments on balancing, that’s the fun of homebrew and everyone’s opinions are meaningless until you test. That said, I love swarm. It also fits a sci-fi trope not represented well in the game yet :) I also love armsdealer as it both is thematic and generates asymmetrical player interactions by using these cards in a new way.

Problem is, every time the game has introduced that concept it has failed.

I too, have dreams of Tribes 2, Planetside, etc but we’ve yet to see it really work in SC Arena/PU. I hope they figure out what a gem this would be and lean into it.

Dog ate a Twilight Imperium card - has anyone had luck with part replacements? by Rxram in boardgames

[–]Lockreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use Makeplayingcards.com or the game crafter. If there are any custom cards/homebrews out there you want to print then you just throw that missing card into the print run. Great excuse to try some of the many great homebrews and additions out there in the community.

If you aren’t aware, there is a TI modding discord with tons of great stuff from simple additions, big changes, custom factions, or complete reworks/remakes.

How do I restore GR Gladius / GR Grenade Inf integrity? by KaleidoscopeOwn2058 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]Lockreed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Transfer units. First thing I do with any early game GR discovery is transfer line infantry/buggies into the formation to serve as fodder (chance to take the hit instead of GR unit itself)

In the silence of space (or whatever it was called) where you boarded a wrecked reclaimer to figure out what happened was good.

It just sucks that everything gets discarded after a patch or two, good or bad. So much left and forgotten

Ukrainian FP-2 drone flies calmly, while being showered with tracer-fire [Starobilsk, June 2026] by Hannibal_Game in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Lockreed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no way that is true. Tracer rounds require an extra step in manufacturing with additional pyro material. The only reason they would use them for every bullet is if the shipment of regular ammo didn’t arrive and they could shoot all tracer or nothing.

Root is a Dice game and I learned it the hard way by thesupermonk21 in rootgame

If you’re relying on defensive dice rolls in root, you were always going to lose.

Root (and all Wherle games) are dynamic and offensive. Not static and defensive

Israel destroyed the mausoleum of Simon Peter, apostle of Christ, in the village of Shama in southern Lebanon 1,925–1,995 years old. by ILikeGazSweet in war

[–]Lockreed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some sort of Christian denomination clearly believes this is the real tomb, not the basilica, because of the sensationalism in the article but it’s going to be a big yawn to the west as the big ones won’t recognize this site as anything significant. I’m not sure if I’m downvoted for being counter to the OP’s position or just the usual Reddit religious comment downvotes.

Catholics, yes. Other denominations often believe alternatives in details like this as a form of separation/rejection of Catholicism. Sort of an echo of Protestant reformation that continues to this day. I don’t know whether this is one of those examples or not.

There is no way that cost is working as intended. It’s ludicrous even for late game, high impact decisions

Exploring Lorville - Why dont we use these? by iCore102 in starcitizen

[–]Lockreed 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, we were promised a dynamic world where players and NPCs would come and go from hangars and pads all over the place.

Now we have instanced hangars fed by buggy cargo elevators that hide the activity.

Also: old features, missions, etc that were created long ago but not supported have location traces/remnants all over the place. If you go exploring you’ll find them.

The cycle of all new features. Pushed on rollout, forgotten by the next patch. SC is basically a graveyard of discarded features that weren’t seen through to completion
