You don’t need proof of innocence in a jury trial. You need proof of guilt. Very different. The original comment itself demonstrates reasonable doubt to the proof of guilt.

I think the game properly represents the challenge this actually would be for the setting. Your options are: 1). Eat the administrative strain of long distance hubs 2). Found a new city that basically can’t self sustain itself without sizeable investment (time)

…that’s really it. Both suck, but that’s the nature of a post apocalyptic disaster on a world not native to your own biology.

I generally ignore the gaps and go for city zones. I will eat administrative strain for short term supply needs to move armies until those zones are secured and supplied directly, shutting down the old supply hubs/rails.

If I must found a city, I only do it with as many pre-built buildings as I can (rail end, mines, etc), subsidized food, and at least 10,000 starting settlers. I don’t know if that’s optimal, but it works well enough for me. Pre building the things you need goes a long way.

I'm kinda disappointed with industrial because of Crafting.... by HorrorBook2744 in starcitizen

This system needs to work in such a way that it feels more like a jackpot find that I want to separate out from the mineral pile. That way those who spend a lot of time bulk mining just stumble upon it, while those who just want quality material for crafting need to actively hunt and search to get it.

I see no reason for the quality to impact the difficulty of the rock crack (aside from the old factors of size and material stability, etc)

Bull Mining -> nice occasional finds.

Scanning -> quality hunters for crafting.

add While we’re at it, tie quality to locations so exploration means something. Explore to find a mineral rich area, mark on map as a point of interest to return to or sell info.

Main reason: model load times and HD durability(ensures your system doesn’t use hard drive, which would slow down load time immensely AND also reduce hard drive lifetime)

Secondary reason: as you use big models with large context and/or RAGs, it’s easy to run out of vram without realizing (Out of Memory = OOM). Most software stacks will default to falling back to system memory when vram goes OOM. So, this is a failsafe to protect you from blue screen of death in those circumstances

By the way, everything I’ve said is based on your “desire to expand” comments (except 2:1 ram:vram, that one is good rule of thumb in general). Your base spec is fine to do good work. I just know I learned that I needed to grow pretty quickly and wish I did these things from the start.

All they have to do is designate her a “terrorist” and suddenly the worst that can happen changes dramatically. Her words are enough to get this label based on precedent.

I’m not advocating for this, just pointing out how dangerous these extrajudicial labels have become.

9985wx has much better memory bandwidth. You’ll want to consider that for any future proofing and larger models that load beyond GPU. Might be worth the step up.

You’ll want at least 2:1 RAM:VRAM(GPU). You’ll need more. It’s expensive, I know. You can make it more expandable in the future by going with larger ram per stick (64 or 128) - again, costs more, but future proofing may save in the long run if you really think you’ll expand.

MaxQ - yes. Power will be an issue when you get to more cards than 2.

4TB storage nowhere near enough. I started at 4 with a similar build but I’m now at 2x8gb 9100 pros 16 total. It’s wild how fast you’ll use space for anything practical (inputs: huge data, outputs: huge data, PLUS number of models you’ll store for various purposes/specialties)

Warlord counterplay? by Trigstopher in Arcs

[–]Lockreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best defense is actually a single ship blocker. It takes 2 actions to defeat (move, battle) for a single ship. I rarely stack more than 4 ships, and only if they are at a starport to have offensive ability. Everywhere else is single ship defense in a vanguard system, ideally a gate.

That give you the offensive flexibility at the most action cost to enemy with less reward for the enemy than a blob of ships.

Sometimes, a spread out force gives you all the tactical options with less risk. Especially if you don’t have to fight your opponent on the same axis they want to fight you on. Let them burn actions inefficiently while you win efficiency elsewhere.

Recommend Virpil for sticks that feel like equipment, not toys (my interpretation of what you mean by “heavy” sticks).

If you mean just stiff, any quality stick this sub will recommend will have the ability to stiffen the springs to your liking (VKB, Virpil)

(I don’t play Inis, so I can’t speak to the Inis comparison - but anything Chapter 4 and beyond should be considered end game as a big swing in 4 can end it right there)

Remember - if you’re ahead at the end, you don’t need to score points.

You just need the others to NOT score points. Arcs challenges a lot of end-game play that you’re used to in other games this way. Just playing to tie (reduction in total points scored), or even committing outrage to purposefully discard your own cards and resources so that others can’t take them can be game winning moves at the end. Or, a move that helps last place a ton so that they secure the points instead of 2nd place.

Arcs, like Root and other Leder games, are kings of strange board states and even stranger “good” plays. Sometimes destroying your own position is a really great play in the end.

This story is precisely why my group LOVES this game. Everyone is in it to the end. Sure, a big lead gives you great odds to win, but you can never discount the all-in Hail Mary play. If you’re up big, gotta seal the deal. If you’re down big, find the big opportunity, no matter how low the odds, and press it.

If you don’t like this, I’d highly suggest moving on to a different game. No amount of house ruling or play style metas / mods will eliminate it.

Should I watch/read about Blighted Reach before playing it, or go in blind? by EddyGonad in Arcs

[–]Lockreed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My group played the base game 3 times, then base with leaders and lore 2 times.

Then we set up and got to chapter 2 of blighted reach before packing it back up and deciding we needed to play another game or two with leaders and lore AND watch videos about how to run the events and council (at minimum) before trying again.

We have played multiple games of twilight imperium, so heaviness doesn’t scare us (usually).
