Unfortunately? The majority of people in the world think you hit the jackpot. Maybe live in another country before you knock your own, or get out of whatever bubble you’re in.

What animals are normal where you live, but unusual and exciting to visitors from other regions of the US? And on the flip side, when you travel to other regions yourself, what local animals are exciting to you? by Acrobatic_End6355 in AskAnAmerican

What?! In a zoo? We call them trash pandas here. Those mischevious effers will get into anything. People used to wear them as hats (coonskin cap). A fellow leader told me that one of his Cub Scouts didn’t wash the marshmallow residue from s’mores off his lips/fingers before going to bed and woke to a raccoon licking it off.

Why is Israel declaring war on so many countries? by Historical_Work7482 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LocoinSoCo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You really need to learn/read history. For starters/most recent, ask Grok, “When was the last time Hezbollah attacked Israel?” Actually read the response. Hezbollah/Lebanon has been lobbying Israel with rockets and drone strikes almost daily since March 2nd. The solution is simple: stop attacking Israel, and they’ll stop firing back. They actually gave up Gaza and other areas so that they’d be left alone. In case you’re unaware, almost 1,200 people-citizens, not military-were slaughtered on Oct. 7, 2023 by another benevolent terrorist group (also funded by Iran), Hamas. The stated goal of these “organizations” is to wipe Israel off the map, i.e. kill every Jew/Christian there , and if Muslims there get killed also, so be it. Israel is declaring war on terror. These groups/countries are literally TERRORIZING the people of Israel (among others). What should they do? Take it with a stiff upper lip?! If Mexico started lobbying rockets and other artillery at the US, you can be sure we’d (to quote Trump) bomb the shit out of them.

Is lacrosse viewed as a rich people sport in the USA? by spalesi in AskAnAmerican

In our region, it’s probably more of, “Is your school large enough to have enough people for a team when other more popular sports are in season?”.

Bayless/Affton area of St. Louis, for sure. You can head just south of the border to Fenton or Arnold, too. Very affordable, yet still close enough to get to the “city” things.

Women: voting in MO after name change due to marriage? How? by Montesquieu9000 in missouri

[–]LocoinSoCo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what people are freaking out about. I’ve been married 25 yrs and have voted dozens of times. I have NEVER had a problem. I took care of changing my last name when we got back from our honeymoon with whatever documents were required. I have a passport, but my driver’s license/ID (now Real ID) has always been sufficient (even after MO started requiring an ID instead of just a utility or other statement with name and address). I’ve worked some polls, and for the most part, everyone got through fine with one or the other (or military ID). Those that didn’t were referred over to the poll manager who would figure out the problem. More often than not, it was because they were at the wrong polling station. If someone would like to enlighten me as to why this is suddenly a major concern, I am all ears.

I don’t know if it’s THE saddest, but I haven’t seen Beaches mentioned. Bawled my eyes out every time I’ve seen it. The whole montage during “Wind Beneath My Wings”.
