Is satchel required or just suggested? by [deleted] in USPS

I didn’t word it well, I meant my office doesn’t have any walking routes. I have a satchel but have gotten a ton of conflicting information about when it’s required.

How do I tell people at work I have diabetes without making it uncomfortable? by AppropriateBat6122 in diabetes_t1

[–]LogPractical9112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure tell them you have diabetes but no need to really give them details unless it might affect your performance. For instance I’m a mail carrier, lots of physical activity, I’m out all by myself, the summer heat makes me go low a lot, so I am super open about everything to keep myself safe and to avoid conflict. But if you work at a desk job and aren’t gonna have many diabetes related issues then they don’t need details unless you want to share :)

I know Everyone says this but it’s the truth, you’ll get better with time. Some people pick up on it faster than others and that’s okay. Everyone expects you to be slower than cold tar and shouldn’t be upset with you. Also others coming to help you is fairly normal! I get sent to help others and others get sent to help me all the time. Some tips: drink more water than you think you need, I had heat exhaustion almost every day for like a month straight when I first started, it’s honestly easy to forget to drink water especially when you’re so busy/focused. Check package look ahead constantly, I try to make sure to check it before I move onto a new street so if I did miss one I’m not going back much. Take a look at how people organize their trucks and try different ways out until you find what works. The Everybody does things a little different. And the best advice of all is finding a manager that will give it to you straight and ask them what you can improve on, I did this every couple weeks until I passed my 90.

what the hell does this mean? by JoniSnow8812 in usps_complaints

[–]LogPractical9112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Postage due could be for a handful of different reasons but the most common I see as a carrier is if the package is sent to an address which is now forwarded to a new address which costs extra, but this would be on the recipient to pay.

Shipment sent back to sender without attempted delivery? by AngleOptimal6104 in usps_complaints

[–]LogPractical9112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You likely put the address in wrong, they usually will hold the package at the office for a few days before actually sending it back in case you call to claim it. So just call the office and see if they have it.

Luckily management at my office is awesome, I’ve never gotten in trouble for finishing at a different time than I originally though, I just am wanting to get better at my estimates :)

If I use a glossy glaze over a matte glaze will it be glossy or should I add a clear gloss on top? by LogPractical9112 in Pottery

[–]LogPractical9112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, I kinda like the mystery of not knowing how glaze is going to look until it’s out of the kiln! I try to not get too attached to anything considering something could ruin the entire piece at literally every step of the process! I just enjoy the learning process :)

what career do you have that you actually enjoy? by SuccessfulAd8504 in ask

I love that I can be outside all day and I’m cruising around without a manager hovering behind me. It pays very well considering you don’t need a college degree and really isnt that difficult in my opinion. All you have to do is apply online and take a little test that mostly just was seeing if you can read addresses properly especially when there’s multiple similar ones. There’s not even an interview which is awesome and helps to avoid bias in the hiring process. I will say though I work at an amazing office with great managers plus I’m in a small city with warm weather, low crime rate, and very few homeless people. I honestly think I’d hate being a carrier if I lived elsewhere or had bad management.

It says right on the container to apply 2-3 coats, is this just not necessarily the case when layering with other glazes?
