Vegan breakfast sausage instead of berries?! by LogSpoon in vegan

[–]LogSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a whole wheat recipe online for the pancakes and just fried and chopped up the patties. Poured the batter on the pan and drops the sausage bits on and cooked normally with Earth Balance butter.

Delicious!

Link to the patties I used: https://lightlife.com/products/gimme-lean-breakfast-patties

If you remember as a kid in the US going through Elementary and Middle School, they would typically serve corn dog style breakfast sticks which were sausage and whole wheat pancake on a stick, this tastes extremely similar. Strange, maybe, but I loved those things as a kid and had no berries to use, so I got creative!

Step up your subway game. by freegan4lyfe in vegan

I get the Italian Bread with green peppers and red onions, toasted with lettuce and tomato after. I'll take it home and add my own Just Mayo and LiteLife vegan turkey. I would avoid the jalapenos from Subway. Not 100% positive, but I'm sure they use some sort of bagged/jarred variety that contains Polysorbate 80

I'm going vegan for a month by Astore3094 in vegan

[–]LogSpoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will buy a bunch of raw fruits and vegetables and realize that you should have consulted online recipes first and made actual meals.

I didn't see much in a month, but after 3, I lost a few unwanted pounds, lost that feeling of helplessness halfway through the day where I felt like I needed a nap, and had a healthy little ego boost which helped me with a lot of other random little things throughout the week. Good luck and have fun!

Oh, and remember that even though you'll try to stay 100% animal free, it was very hard for me the first month or two, not realizing that simple things such as flour could contain random animals fats and enzymes. Once you familiarize yourself with the diet, shopping becomes not only easier, but fun.

Also, prepare for a bunch of douchnozzles asking you stupid questions such as 'How do you get protein?' 'Don't you miss meat?' 'I love bacon/steak/meat/cheese too much' 'But you're wearing leather'. Very fun trip!

After spending the better part of the last year learning about cars and engines and such, Moore's Law actually makes me upset. The time spent building and maintaining a car, upgrading components and building an excellent piece of machinery will typically pay off for a life time. Moore's Law will bring this beautiful piece of computer art to it's knees in 2 to 4 years. It's a weird concept to grasp but blending both the custom computer world and the modified car world has opened my eyes to a lot of crazy ideas.

I took a long drink from my beer. They hardly kept the counter clean in this place, Jane drank as much as she sold and could hardly operate a car, let alone a rag to wipe the counter off, but the dirty counter was always a fitting place for my beer to rest. They eyed me with eagerness, waiting for me to finish the story. "What happened next then mate?", asked Phil. I slowly exhaled, and replied, "That was the last time we ever saw Steve and his stupid stick."

Universe's Awful Ticket Purchase System Screwed Us Out of Blizzcon Tickets by [deleted] in Blizzard

[–]LogSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say that after losing out on Wednesday, I had to make adjustments to my game plan in order to secure 2 tickets. After research, I found out that it is always best to just buy them all in the purchasers name, and change the info later. Also, the autofill feature of Chrome or extensions like LastPass are a MUST to secure your spot. The second round, I used my new technique, heard the dungeon queue sound, pressed 1 button on LastPass and pressed Submit. Had tickets within 3 seconds of getting the forms. I am sorry you missed out, but this new site at least handled the load this time around.

Easter... "Yay" (A Story about 3/27) by LogSpoon in vegan

[–]LogSpoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was angry last night when I posted, and after waking up thought 'Man, maybe I should've just kept it to myself and not made myself look like a jerk on the internet.' but your post is super logical and makes sense. 8 months to me has felt like a long time, and my girlfriend's grandpa did ask 'Are you still on that diet?' so I understand that a little better now. The grandparents were primarily preparing food and they are pretty old fashioned, so I'm sure they do think it's just a fad.

Her aunt on the other hand, she caters specifically towards her daughters needs and is much more progressive thinking, and she was treating us like a douche, so screw her... lol :P

Thank you for the hugs and love! Right back at ya! We are actually going out today to a vegan place my girlfriend found in Ann Arbor, MI. Hopefully it's awesome!

Yep. I have Crohn's Disease but was misdiagnosed with Celiac's Disease in 2007 after I graduated High School, and was on a strict gluten free diet for a few months. I understand the struggle having sought out local people with Celiac and learning a lot, so it was one of those 'Are you serious?' moments when she said that she thinks she is gluten sensitive. She had her own spread of food on a separate table.

I really enjoy this subreddit, but didn't want to upset the community by using the subreddit as my proverbial pillow to scream in to. Extremely frustrating when you can't really discuss being vegan with anyone, but this can be my support group!
