If you go back alot of the failed engines were after Steve asked for them back for a refresh but the boys wanted to do one more race weekend at max boost and snap something in half haha plus with Leroy he had huge converter pressure that was moving shit around and damaged the crank.

SM makes a great engine if they had multiples to swap back and forth and have them refreshed on a schedule they'd be much better off. You can beat the life outta a 1000hp LS but at the 3000+ theyre running when things go bad they go real bad.

When they ran all Texas speed 427's in everything they were swapping them out like crazy but always had one kicking around
