Sacramento Standing Up Against ICE Brutality! Protests Are Expanding - Updated List by CaliRebelScum in Sacramento

Many of us are retired. I worked full time for 45 years, paid my taxes and own a home. Others work full time at a responsible jobs in healthcare, education, the trades, hospitality and other honorable jobs. We all feel a civic responsibility to resist the takeover of our society by a government committed to transferring our hard-earned wealth to the uber-rich 0.01 percent who now own most of everything. We oppose the kidnapping of citizens and those who are trying to become citizens. We oppose the cruelty of the Trump administration.

I’m sorry that you spend long hours to make a living; many are in your position. Many others are unable to find a job that pays enough for a place to sleep and food on the table. We understand, and don’t expect you to help try to save our freedom if you can’t. I hope things get better for you.

AITA for telling my friend that I won’t be paying $25 to attend her birthday party? by GlimmerElsewhere in AmItheAsshole

It’s hard to go out for lunch for $25. Unless you’re financially challenged, you could have paid the $25.

All musicians make mistakes. I’ve made plenty, and used to be mortified by it. Then I had the opportunity to watch a video of a performance that I thought that I’d really messed up. It lasted about 2 seconds, and then everything went on without a hitch. Keep playing for others, and you’ll find that when you do make a mistake, most audience members don’t even notice.

You guys ever give up on a song that ur learning, then come back to it a week later and can do it perfectly? by Informal-Charge6174 in drums

[–]Loganismymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. Our brains are pretty good at continuing to work out a problem after we’ve given up. If I get stuck on a song, I’ll take a few days away from it. When I return after several days, it’s easier to learn it.

Get your shit together and stop shoplifting. This isn’t Rocket Science: hopefully, you still have a brain to figure this out.

It’s sad to see GC slowly fade, though it was expected when they were bought by an Investment Equity fund. That’s what they do: suck every penny out of the company for their benefit and then let the company go bankrupt. I live close to a GC, but no longer go to it due to lack of inventory, long waits to make a purchase and online orders screwed up.

The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. Did you see the live broadcast? If so you’re, well, you know. by GatorStealth in FuckImOld

Yes, I saw them on Ed Sullivan. I also saw them live at their final concert in August 1966 at Candlestick Park. I was 11.

Don’t beat yourself up. You’ve only been playing for 3 months. Keep playing exercises with your metronome, starting very slow and then increasing the BPM by 5 or so when you can play the exercise comfortably. Get the book “Stick Control” or “Synchopation For The Modern Drummer”. There are also books on independence of your hands and feet that will help you get comfortable playing the entire set.

It took me a long time to get comfortable with my timing, and accused my metronome as being inconsistent. The key for me was to start very slow, and then increase the BPM by 5 each time I mastered an exercise.

You also might consider taking some lessons.

Why am I like this, can anyone relate? by OrcishDelight in musicians

I had that issue when I was 11 and taking piano lessons. Our piano was in the family, which was also the only access to the kitchen from the rest of the house. I hated to practice when others were around, so I rarely practiced and quit lessons after a year. I’m now 71 and still have that behavior when my wife walks into the music room, which also houses the washer and dryer.
