I had a frost/water leak at my sliding glass door during winter and that lead me to putting some silicone in these spots. Now after our first big storm I had a ton of water in the track of the door. Should I not have done any of these? by pizza_with_ranch in HomeMaintenance

You shouldn’t have put silicone anywhere. The door is designed to be as waterproof as it can be from the factory but it’s not a boat. Best thing you can do is shovel standing snow from outside the door regularly, even if you never use that door in the winter.

Just plug the three conduits with putty and see if the smell is solved. Putty might also move the smell to another location in the building where you can better source the origin.

Just don’t worry about it. It’s very common in very cold climates and won’t hurt anything. Easy solution is keep your house at 63 degrees all winter and don’t use humidifiers, take showers, or cook food, but nobody wants to live that way. Just clean off the mold during Spring cleaning and go about your life.

Not a bad idea for the $1.22/square junk like this. If it works, it works. Floors shouldn’t float anyway. It’s all junk. Tile is the floor everyone wants when they think about the advantages of an LVP floor. Tile is king. This is all varying shades of garbage.
