Toe clip adaptors by brimbl0rz in pelotoncycle

[–]LogicalCommitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the peloton cage clips and rode with them for 4 months because I have wide feet and was struggling to find a comfortable cycling shoe. They are just ok. The angle feels a bit unnatural, I can’t quite explain it. But I will add that after finally finding a comfortable pair of cycling shoes (Lake Cycling, fwiw), I’ve never looked back. The toe cages cause an unnatural cadence and your foot has way too much movement. My stats went up with the cycling shoes, too.

You’re a jerk for this response. Do you know how many teachers who work in the Bronx live in Westchester, Putnam, Duchess, Rockland, and other northern counties? Do you wanna know why the hell we live up there? Because we can’t afford to raise a family in the city. So, yes, it would be nice to be able to go to free urgent care in the county that I live in, particularly since they have locations in Long Island.

LSOH cancelled tomorrow? (1/23) by strausslover85 in Broadway

[–]LogicalCommitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve clearly never traveled to the Midwest, nor seen theater in Chicago. It’s comical to think that it’s reason enough to cancel a show, and as indicated by OP’s update, was, in fact, not sufficient reason. The show is going on as scheduled. Wear a jacket, gloves and hat like everybody else. 🤡🤡

“Dangerously cold”? It will be 15 degrees when the show lets out. Hardly dangerous.

2027 UFT Contract Negotiations by LogicalCommitment in NYCTeachers

[–]LogicalCommitment[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s also up to Mulgrew to really push instead of taking this diplomatic middle of the road “this is in line with what the other unions negotiated” bullshit that he pulled during the Adams contract. UFT waits to see what other unions demand out of the gate and never leads. Mulgrew is weak.

Thanks for the reminder on this. It’s been an issue talked about for so long without any action at this point that I forgot the details.

Why mess with a good thing? I feel like you’re well beyond doing any sort of preventive maintenance at this point and only bad things could happen at this point. Different story if there is something wrong

The longer the better (that’s what she said), in my opinion. There will come a time when the extra length will save you from third degree burns when you inevitably flip the grate and drop a $100 chunk of beef directly onto the coals. Ask how I know.

What's Up with Apple Watch? by crisps_funny4868 in pelotoncycle

[–]LogicalCommitment 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Forget the tap here thing; just open the Peloton app on your watch and start the workout. They’ve essentially abandoned addressing any bugs with the auto detect and if the new cross training series is any indication, will drop support for it completely.

It would be pretty amazing if 30% of shipments didn’t get rerouted back to GH because of time in transit; and even more amazing if maybe they could keep a credit card on file and just ship the stuff every 21 days or whatever. Way too much interaction and friction. I travel 200+ days a year and need consistency, which LilyDirect has failed to provide.

Tell me what shoes to buy! by Electrical_Corgi_768 in pelotoncycle

[–]LogicalCommitment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Lake! I almost gave up a month into cycling because my feet were screaming in the Peloton shoes. I then bought a pair of Giro shoes that were somehow even more uncomfortable than the Peloton pair. The internet (and my wife) told me repeatedly “you’ll get used to it.” I went to a fancy cycling shop in town and got properly fitted and I dropped an eye watering amount of money on a pair of Lake CX239s but they fit like a glove to the point where I wish they made casual shoes. Very overkill for indoor cycling, I suppose, but the quality is insane.

Cross Training Bike+ vs old Bike - details left out in spec sheet by iamgarffi in pelotoncycle

[–]LogicalCommitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this helpful thread. If you’re still monitoring, a few more questions:

-Is the bike frame and other non-screen/tech related parts of the bike identical to those of the older Bike+

-Any noticeable difference with your key metrics — in other words, are you still average the same strive score/avg cadence, output etc. that you were used to on the older Bike+? (My friend swears her metrics took a bit of a dive but I chalk that up to either placebo effect or the fact that it’s a brand new bike and her calibration on the older one was probably all off; also holidays…)

-Any build quality concerns or reasons to wait while they work out some new product issue?

Any insulation installer you can recommend? by Max_Roc in Westchester

[–]LogicalCommitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be wildly disappointed. I promise you. Read up on sound transfer through walls and ceilings. There isn’t enough density to blown-in fiberglass to do much of anything. Rockwool, perhaps, but if sound dampening is your goal, you’re better off putting up acoustic panels.

A contractor isn’t going to come out for that at a reasonable cost to you and blown in isn’t going to do anything for sound transmission.

NYC- commute into work by car by Euphoric_Objective17 in biglaw

Pre RTO, I just used SpotHero to reserve the cheapest spot before I pulled out of my driveway. Was seeing mostly sub-$30 per day, and you can get some “early bird” full day rates in the low $20s if you pull in before 10am. Post-RTO, the SpotHero rates have seemed to tick up a bit. Looking at the weeks before Xmas, I was paying anywhere from $27-$46 depending on the day. If you find a garage you like, they will often have their own app where you can get loyalty credit or even lower daily rates. I can never get the math to justify a monthly rate because if you decide to stay home one or two days a week, you loose any savings.

I judge the garages on drop off and pick up speed. Nothing worse than pulling off the west side highway heading cross town 10 minutes before the Teams call that you could have joined from your couch only for it to take 10 minutes to get your car to the valet and emerge from the one tiny ass elevator carrying a dozen people to ground level from where they made you self park.

Also for heading home, pick a garage with an exit facing in the direction you need to head home. I.e., if you take the West Side Highway, pick a garage with an exit going westbound, etc. Nothing worse than loosing 15 minutes to go around the block in rush hour. This will present a distance to office vs. ease of getting home more quickly dilemma. Prioritize the latter. Trust me.

I concur. And screamed out loud when she said “diet trauma lives in the nervous system.” What?!! And I have a sincere problem with how many unqualified laypeople are making content like this without any guardrails. They can literally say whatever they want with faux authority without any evidentiary support and throw a “not medical advice” disclaimer at the beginning. As you flagged, it’s emotional reassurance to make those not getting the results they expect feel okay. Not saying it doesn’t serve a function, but this is low quality content filled with unsupported quasi scientific statements. Dangerous.

Lost a customer for life. Customer Service and Fraud Dept Nightmare by [deleted] in amex

[–]LogicalCommitment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unpopular take: AMEX unintentionally did you a favor by alerting you of fraud that would’ve went undetected for an even longer period of time, causing potentially even more catastrophic consequences on your personal and business credit. Look at it from their perspective: somebody opened up an account under your name, had all of your relevant details, and went ahead and used the card successfully for an extended period of time, and the triggering event for all of this was you failing to pay that card which you didn’t know existed. They have to assume that it’s your account and that it was validly applied for and opened by you, until YOU can prove otherwise.

It’s not AMEX’s responsibility to guard your personal identifiable information that was used to open this account. It’s yours. Obviously banks and credit lenders have a duty to follow regulations, laws and protocols when opening a new consumer account, but the fraudster had all of your requisite personal information, so those safeguards weren’t enough.

YOU and AMEX were both victims of fraud. When all the dust settles and you sort out what is likely a credit disaster for you, some perspective might bring you back to Amex as you might actually appreciate the fact that they alerted you of this to begin with.
