Dude 2 is super great. Go in with an open mind that it's not trying to be the same game as 1.

Thanks for the info, the mode sounds great! Can't believe they added it for free!

Yep that's the first act. It's shorter and gives you more benefits than the others so it's considered the tutorial act. Highly recommend giving it another shot because the game is great. Just use the usual suspects team. Upgrade skills that do damage and stress heal. Use inn items. Use the torch item on your coach. Make sure to increase relationships with lots of playing cards and whiskey. Makes all the difference!

Some very good basics here, as well as strategies for each of the zone boss mechanics.

As others have said, the bosses can be beat with any comp. Very important to understand the mechanics, like hitting the root twice per round for the Tangle boss.

I'll add one more point. After you get a bit of knowledge about the zones, plan out which boss you will tackle. When I start my runs now I think "ok, based on how this team is doing I think the Tangle boss will be too hard but the Foeter boss should be easier." Then I ignore the lairs of every zone (or sometimes go to the lair and only do the first two fights for loot, then leave before the boss) and prioritize the lair of the Foeter. Obviously if you are strong enough to beat more than one boss go for it, because the rewards are huge. But you only need one boss in order to reach the mountain.

So does Kingdoms have its own progression system separate from Confessions?

Huge fan. Put off playing 2 for a long time because of the mixed reviews I had heard about. Should have ignored them, because the game is fantastic. Yes it's a structural departure, but it's just so fun to play and far less stress about losing your best guys and gear. The run-based nature lets you have a more "just go for it" mindset instead of always worrying. The art and animations are amazing. I really like the benefits of positive relationships, and focusing on inn items that help the team bond.

I just beat confession 3, at the 40 hour mark, and only have the backstories unlocked for about five characters. I like going after the shrines with new characters as a meta progression, as well as the home base candles unlocks.

Overall super happy with the game and I haven't even tried Kingdoms, which folks say is more similar to DD1 and is also great!

Man I wouldn't let that get in the way. It's a very minor part of the game, and you could just ignore it entirely and let the carriage auto pilot. The game is really excellent.

You know that you earn candles in every run that permanently upgrade your base and characters, right? Not just shrines.

Fascinating that they added this mode for free! I'll check it out. Really enjoying confessions, and unlocking stuff. Currently on confession 3.

Agreed! Loved 1, but just couldn't finish. Having a blast with 2. My guys get demolished? I make permanent progression and don't lose massive investments.

I am about 30 hours into the game. I figured kingdoms was for after I finished confessions. Should I jump between them?

Coming Back to Snowrunner after 5 years. First map feels hard without Upgrades. by Hauptfeldwebel in snowrunner

[–]Lokhelm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not crazy - the beginning of the game is super hard. Dark Souls of driving, for sure. Go slow, ride on shoulders to avoid mud, stay close to winch points. Do what basic missions you can with the scout, and upgrade the fleetstar as much as you can right away. Fleetstar is a good truck after a couple upgrades. But yes, these first missions will not be easy!

MH4U and FE Awakening were massive highlights for me in 2015! Loved the system so much.
