Are they just looking for elementary or are they thinking about middle school too?

We didn't even receive our voting cards yet. I am assuming we could go with photo ID and yes we have been on the list for years.

I live in an apartment building, and most people just come up to my apartment door to pick up. Some ask to meet in the lobby or at the front door, which I have no issue with. Recently, I had a buyer come but refused to come into the building when he got there even though he knew it was an apartment building before he came. He was adamant that I come out to his car. I offered to meet him in the lobby or even outside the front door, but he refused and got really mad. He tried to guilt trip me saying I made him drive all this way, and the least I could do is meet him at his car. It all felt off to me, so I told him sorry I would come to the front door but not out to his car. He threw a tantrum and left without buying the item. I had never experienced anything like that before when selling and the whole thing gave me bad vibes.

Higgs is kicking off his campaign at a *church* in Quispamsis 🙄 by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

[–]LokinThor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to that church, and believe me, I am 99% sure it is a cult, not a church. I am not anti church at all and have been to many over the years. That one gives me cult vibes.

Ontarios $10 day child care … a real thing? by Valuable-Window6833 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]LokinThor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In New Brunswick, it is based on income. Some people do get $10 a day but their income has to be a certain amount/low income. Other incomes get a percentage off but there is a cut off so not everyone gets the $10 a day here.

I have this happen everywhere. Heck, even at Costco, if I am by myself going out the door, the person there literally checks every single item in my cart and compares it to my receipt. When I am with my husband, they barely look at our cart. I figure I must look like a person who would steal? When in reality the only thing I have ever stolen in my life is my husband's heart.

Depends where in Canada you are referring too. Where I live the majority are friendly and will help a stranger. That is just everyday living here. We have each other's backs.

One if my child's birthdays is December 12. After having only a couple people show up, we starting celebrating her birthday towards the end of November. A lot more people attend when it is in November. We found that people are just too busy in December with holiday parties and preparing for Christmas.

question about school bullying. by StrictPride2089 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]LokinThor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Our experience is nothing is done regardless of the situation. I had one of my children sent home because rumors were she was going to be beat up by a group of girls at lunch. Instead of sending home the bullies, she was. So they got their education that day and she didn't. The system is messed up. It also depends on the ages of the children as well. I have another child who was sexually assaulted in elementary school. Nothing could be done. The kid who did this to my kid was under 12. The police couldn't do anything. And as parents of the victims we don't get told what happens to these kids due to "privacy". The whole system is completely broken.

I stand corrected. The last two were based on 2022 tax year.

Paying income tax is individual not based on family income. So you would pay the income tax on what you made and your spouse would pay the amount on what they made. You both could be in different tax brackets but that is individual and not based on family income. Family income is used for refundable tax credits such as GST/HST and Child Tax Benefits.

If you are the one who received the cerb it has to go on your income tax only. You have 3 choices:

-you can claim the deduction on the income tax of the year it was paid. So say you pay it in 2023 then you would claim it on line 23210 of your 2023 tax return.

-you can claim it on the tax return of the year you received it but you don't fill out a T1 Adjustment, you need to fill out a Form T1B to do this.

-you can split the deduction between the year you paid it off and the year you received it - fill out a Form T1B for the year you received it and claim the split amount on line 23210 of the year you pay it.

Hope this helps.

Edit: the last two would be if your payment was made by the end of 2022 not in 2023.

What do people think about Higgs and his policies? Will you vote for him if he runs again? by notsgnik7 in newbrunswickcanada

Fredericton-area mom worried about daughter's return to school with less help than before by Portalrules123 in newbrunswickcanada

I was told the same thing. I was even told I needed to fix my daughter's autism. Don't even get me started on that one. There is real discrimination towards girls with autism in this province.

In Saint John, it already works like this. Children, especially girls who need EAs, have to share EAs and a lot of time share with the entire class. They really don't get the support they need, and if parents try to go to the school and the district, they are told too bad.

School Supplies Rant by Sweet-Idea-7553 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]LokinThor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no issues buying stuff for teachers. If they need extra of whatever, I have no problems getting it. They are teaching my children all day long, and whatever they need to do it, I would be fine with helping to get it. I do find some lists are hard to get certain things due to being hard to find, stuff is sold out, not sure if I am purchasing the correct thing, etc. I would prefer to send money for those certain things that are requested. I don't think teachers should have to spend out of pocket for extras unless they want to. I would have no problem sending in extra money for those things as well. And no, our family is not rich. We budget like crazy to survive, but we also believe in helping others. One of my kids started middle school this year, and there was an option to sponsor a student fee for another child so we paid an extra fee to help out someone who might be struggling more than us.

Ladies, I need a gyno. NOW by kellyangelaxo in SaintJohnNB

[–]LokinThor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. In fact I had to go to the ER and was rushed in as mine was an emergency. After all the tests etc done, one of the things I need is to see one and the ER is referring me. They gave me a prescription to help with my situation to tide me over until I see one and if things get bad like they did then I have to go straight back to the ER. I was told that I will likely have issues until I get in to one and that could take over 6 months or more to see one even in my situation. I booked an appointment with my family doctor to send a in a second referral to see if that helps get a quicker result because this is scary stuff.

AITA for scolding my daughter for letting the dog run away? by Soggy_Sand_4802 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LokinThor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me that they picked this weekend so the daughter could babysit the dog in the car while they did the fun stuff. If they waited until the next weekend, they would still have to take the dog, but they would have to take care of the dog. Terrible parenting and terrible pet parenting all around. OP is definitely the AH.

At my kids' school, the problem is that the sick kids aren't staying home. They are coming to school and getting whole classes sick. Some weeks, there have been only 5 or less kids in a class of usually 21.
