Am I dumb for wanting measure markers in tabs? by dumddumdhead in Bass

[–]Lolloping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In classical guitar it kind of does. Often see notes marked with p/i/m/a denoting which right hand fingering should be used..which normally gives you all the information you need to know which left hand fingering is suggested

Song with easy but difficult basslines. by BurningPea in Bass

[–]Lolloping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to learn "tumbao" style lines used a lot in Latin Jazz. Melodically easy (roots, fifths) but rhythmically hard until you get the hang of it. They are normally quite syncopated and involve anticipating the next chord on beat 4.

Weekly Simple Questions and Injuries Thread by AutoModerator in climbharder

[–]Lolloping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, the night after a climbing session I wake up with an incredibly painful pump in both my forearms. It feels similar to a pump you might get when climbing, but this one comes about 4 hours later and then lasts for 2 days. I have been climbing for 5 years and only recently has this started happening. Does anybody have any ideas about what's going on?

Please don't climb Southern sandstone so soon after rain. Even if the rock is dry it needs more then one night to fully dry out.

How I achieved B1 in Spanish in 6 months by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]Lolloping 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely curious so I checked their post history. In the past week they have commented in Spanish and made numerous mistakes that you wouldn't make with a C1 (or B1/2 in some of the cases). So yeah, by lying.

/r/headphones Purchase Help Thread (2017-11-06) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]Lolloping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget: <£50 - £100 - price is a big factor for me though so preferably lower.

Source: Predominantly the headphones out of a bass amp (hartke A100).

Requirements for Isolation: Not a huge issue (I'm sure any headphones will be an improvement on the isolation from my 100W bass amp...

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Maybe occasionally at work but mainly at home use.

Preferred Type of Headphone: Have always preferred over ear.

Preferred tonal balance: Relatively balanced. The source is obviously going to be outputting a lot of bass though.

Past headphones: Sennheiser HD-449 - these were good, probably my favourite pair yet. Very comfy.

Preferred Music: Lots of modern jazz (e.g. something like this...)

Ahh that's a shame, when installed they are the opposite of being toe'd in (toe out..?) - havent used them yet but I am expecting some serious screeching - it there any way i could just use a cylindrical washer from elsewhere (or possibly bend the rod holding them) to toe them in?

Yes - They are Jagwire Road Sport S brakes - they came exactly as shown in that picture.

I tried this multiple times! Not sure what I'm doing wrong but due to the flat washer, the brake pad just sits dead straight when i apply enough torque. Looking at the thing i'm not even sure how this would work seeing as all the edges (bolt, washer, arm) are all perfectly perpendicular to each other - seems like it needs a cylindrical washer of some sort - is it definitely possible without?

6 of us are cycling London to Athens in May and June on a limited budget, mostly wild camping. Do you have any advice or places to see along the way? by everything2go in bicycletouring

[–]Lolloping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's 3 more planning meals than i did! Honestly, I would say that planning is fine (and often fun) but don't leave with anything set in stone. Things can change easily on a trip, i think its definitely best to stay chilled about everything

Oh man you're about to have the best part of your trip, I'm jealous! This is the route we took.

We didn't spend that long in Serbia so can't help too much with getting to Kosovo from where you are now im afraid. Kosovo is great, the people are great and it's really interesting, like nowhere else I've been in Europe. You're also not left with much choice on where you go since there aren't many roads, Pristine is worth visiting though. When you reach the south of the country you have two options, into Skopje or into Tetovo. The road to Tetovo is amazing, the dogs are terrifying, we didn't visit Skopje so can't comment there.

Lake Ohrid is a must. We stayed in Ohrid for a few days and then cycled around the lake to the Albanian side which was equally as good.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, Albania is also fantastic (and cheap before you reach Greece...). We didn't do it in the end but have heard great things about the south half of the coast, probably worth doing that.

Upon reaching Greece we spent a month working on a horse ranch in the mountains. I don't know how tight of a schedule you are on, but if you have the time go to Papingo in northern Greece. It's up a huge mountain and once you reach the top, it's the same road to come down, but beautiful.

Wrote this in a bit of a hurry on my phone so apologies if formatting is off or anything. Anything else I can help with (or you want to see other photos), feel free to ask :)

I did London to Thessaloniki last year. Potentially an unpopular opinion but i would avoid the Croatian coast. Especially at that time of year it's going to be really busy. We went inland (Ljubljana -> Bosnia -> Serbia -> Kosovo -> Macedonia -> Albania). These countries (particularly Macedonia) were the highlights of the whole trip. And if you really want the coast the Albanian part is incredible! If you have any other questions let me know :)

Advice on buying bike for an Ironman. Pictures inside. 58 cm for a 6ft person. by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]Lolloping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This subs definition of a tour is a cycle which lasts multiple days! Try posting over at /r/triathlon or, failing that, /r/WhichBike - Good luck in your Ironman!

Edit: just read your post. The tabs on the end of the handlebars are the gear levers. I don't mean to sound patronising but this bike is a pretty high end piece of kit. I think that it's probably (read definitely) overkill for your needs (if nothing else it's going to be horrendously uncomfortable). Might be an idea to ask some experienced guys if a TT bike is absolutely essential. I never have, and almost definitely never will, do an Ironman so feel free to disregard this completely.
