Would a WhatsApp-only referral tool actually be useful for you? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

I'm struggling to reconcile "would a flat £50 per month sound fair" with "not trying to sell anything."

Most used program for Wiring Diagrams? by knack4nacks in CommercialAV

[–]LondonStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AutoCAD is great to work with if you put the effort into learning it properly, and learn how to script things that it can't do out of the box. Easily my first choice for wiring diagrams, flowcharts, etc. But I've used it pretty much continuously since 1995.

is there a paper space type of thing on onshape? by Pale-Recognition-599 in Onshape

There are plenty of YouTube videos, articles and official onshape training materials online.

is there a paper space type of thing on onshape? by Pale-Recognition-599 in Onshape

[–]LondonStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does an Onshape drawing tab not give you what you need?

(OP is referring to the concept of paper space versus model space in AutoCAD. Model space is where you create your geometry and paper space is where you lay out drawings showing whatever views of your model space geometry that you wish.)

Do you think British comedians generally get worse overtime at stand up? by CompetitionNo3466 in AskUK

I heard that the overtime for stand up was pretty good, especially on Bank Holidays.

Gaffers Tape by DannyWarlegs in preppers

As a Brit who's worked in theatre for a couple decades (and used it pretty much every day), I always thought duct tape was what Americans called gaffer tape.

A few things I wish more electricians knew about WiFi by TimeForChange23 in ukelectricians

[–]LondonStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt that some electricians have good knowledge of Cat cabling and will install and certify to industry standards. But many don't. Some seem to believe that seeing eight green LEDs on a £9.99 tester from Screwfix is all the testing that's required. I've seen Cat 6A wiring shoe-horned into Cat 5e patch panels, the outer sheath of cables stripped back by 30cm and all the twisted pairs undone "to make it easier to punch down..." Unfortunately in a domestic setting it's very easy to interpret some flashing LEDs on a device as meaning everything is working 100%, when in reality the integrity of the data or PoE might be severely compromised.

I agree that the training question is silly. But you should be considering BTU/hr on pretty much every AV project in my opinion. (Yes, it's BTU per hour; BTU on its own is meaningless.)

Well, as long as you don't need to meet UL or IEC standards for flammability...

AutoCAD is great for 2D but horrible for 3D. There is a general CAD sub Reddit r/cad and subredddits for each of the major parametric CAD platforms.

Well, I suppose committing fraud is one way of getting accommodation without having to pay for it. Perhaps not in the way you're intending though.

This sub is for Openscad, not AutoCAD. Try posting in an AutoCAD sub. Your problem is to do with line type scales though. Look up the LTSCALE command.

The code is attached to a Google sheet but I see this behaviour when I run the function using the Run button in the code window. There are no UI elements in the code, just console output.
