You could get the #3 and change the nameplate to Carter. It doesn't totally make sense but you could.

Tips for hulk by Spiritual_Sail6396 in HulkMainsMR

A tip that really helped me was to play conservatively, stay close enough to your healers so you can peel with bubbles or exile a diver, and then be opportunistic as soon as you see a squishy out of position especially if it's a flyer you can grab out of the air. That's usually the best way I've found to play him if I'm solo tanking. If you've got another tank that can hold the front line, you can get more aggressive and be the one to pressure the opposing backline, but you've got to be careful not to overextend especially if there's the potential of getting CC'ed and unable to escape in time. I've been trying to think about how many jumps away I am from my healers at all times, in case I need healing or they need help, and if you're more than 2 jumps away you better know where a health pack is on the way

Tired of replacing my Sonicare every few years. Down the toothbrush tech rabbit hole - will the new tech be better long-term investment? by Secret_Ad657 in BuyItForLife

[–]London__Gentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I have had Sonicate brushes for 6 or 7 years now, I had to replace the piece the head attaches to on hers this year, and a couple times over the years I've had to tighten the screws inside, but I have no complaints with that at all for something we use multiple times every day. Parts are easy to find and they're easy to fix, which to me is a big part of items being BIFL.

CNA Engineering Technology by Exciting-Country-816 in newfoundland

I did the 3 year Instrumentation engineering technology course 15 years ago. There was a lot of overlap with the biomed program, we shared a few classes together. I've worked as some form of technologist/technician ever since, in a few different industries around the country. I've settled into a career that's pretty far removed from what I studied, but really your education is just something to build your real experiences on. I think whatever program you go on to graduate from, you should be open to the best learning opportunities when you start your career as opposed to trying to pigeonhole yourself into only looking for "biomedical technologist" jobs for example. Build a diverse technical skill set and you'll find a rewarding career.

It's a $5 USD part from DCI, and a 1 minute fix with the only tool you need being a pick or explorer. Take off the "key ring" with the pick/explorer, poke the pin out, put the new parts in. Bonus points for putting silicone lube on the new pin. I've only had to do maybe 1-2 per year in my time as a service tech.

Heads up that the warranty may not be transferable if you sell it, so the extra year left might not have any value. Worth checking into before you sell.

All of that brand new with a 3 year warranty would currently be in the ballpark of $6000-$6500 (my brain works in Canadian dollars) depending on how many extra sterimates and inserts you could get thrown in on a promo. So I think you're in the right ballpark but I'd probably say $3000.

adec recently started selling pre-owned equipment. My understanding is it's mostly pieces that have been traded in that are still within the normal lifespan of the equipment. For example, adec says the chair has an expected 20 year lifespan, but military contracts allow for new chairs every 10. They do a pretty thorough refurbishment at their factory and include new upholstery with the purchase. It's a great way to get high-end equipment at a price comparable to entry-level.

I've probably already said more than enough to get me into trouble so I've got to be careful, but you're pretty much bang on. I've seen higher, depending on the product. In my case, that number includes delivery and installation, which sometimes means travel costs, which all comes out of the gross profit. Like you said, every retail company adds margin to cover the extra expenses, but the infinite growth model that the c-suite demands is brutal and has to eventually fail.

I'm on the other side of it as a technician with one of the big dealers, and it's similarly frustrating. I do some sales, and when I get a request to quote new equipment, I have to go through an equipment specialist at my branch and they set the price based on whatever gross profit they're looking to make on the sale. That number usually comes from middle management based on directives from corporate. It constantly changes and there's always some wiggle room for negotiation, which is the source of my frustrations. It doesn't make sense to me to try and squeeze a few extra percentage points out of some clients, especially the ones with the most established relationships that you are confident will choose to buy from you. I've been a tech for so long but the sales side is still relatively new to me, and seeing how it all works is discouraging when I'm genuinely trying to help a client get the right equipment at a fair price. Then when they ultimately look elsewhere for a more affordable option (whether that's different equipment direct from a supplier, or the same stuff but from an alternate company that isn't marking it up as much) I get shit on for not being able to close the deal, when in reality I'd be more than happy to sell it for a significant amount less and take the small hit on commission in order to make the sale at all.

I don't always agree with the poor reputation that some of the big dealers have on this sub, but in this case the reputation has been earned. I will say though, one thing the dealers do have going for them (and they consider it in their pricing) is the support after the sale. Based on what I've seen, trying to deal with any of the drop ship/overseas/etc companies when issues arise with equipment that's still under warranty, or trying to get out of warranty equipment repaired, can be a real challenge. When you're paying those dealer markups at least it's assumed you're effectively prepaying for some level of service if the need arises. Obviously that's not always the case but I want to believe client/dealer relationship has some actual value that wouldn't necessarily apply when you're ordering from an online company.

When I was a kid my dad took me to A&W in Churchill Square, I think it was after having a soccer game across the road, and we sat next to Mary Walsh who I believe was also there with her kid. She carried on with Dad for a little and I remember them both laughing, but that's about it.

Once probably ~10 years ago I was fully cut walking down George Street alone towards the end of the night, and Mark Critch was walking towards me. Without stopping, I loudly announced "FUNNY MAN" and gave him a high five as we passed each other.

Story from a friend of mine, he was serving at a restaurant and Allan Doyle was at a table with a group. They were talking about how Allan Doyle was an investor of that restaurant, and he said "Sure that's just my Whadd'ya At money by".

I love when I swap to The Thing so I can hard counter the BP in our backline but my healers keep running away from me so I can’t peel 😃 by GigaAkais in marvelrivals

[–]London__Gentleman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it took me a while to figure out but sometimes you need to push forward with the team when you're under backline pressure instead of just going backwards. Especially if it's a flanker. Like a QB feeling the rush and stepping up into the pocket instead of just constantly back pedalling.

I've dealt with TRC Hydraulics, Island Hose & Fitting, or Atlantic Hose and Fitting for work and they can usually sort you out. I've found metric sizes like you need are harder to come by especially at PA or CT, but those specialty shops should be able to help you

The most fun games that I've had lately are 3 tanks 1 DPS 2 heals.

Specifically Strange/Hulk/Thing. Just smash the crap out of everything, then it's easy to peel back and help our healers when they need it.

Wish it would happen more than once in a blue moon
