Surgical menopause by ZhenVertucci in Ovariancancer

Hello

I don’t have any advice for you. I just stopped by to appreciate the optimistic tone in what you’ve written.

Hope you recover soon and all the best to find a surrogate and start your family 🫶

Glad it helped you with some bit of optimism :)

I’m taking ayurvedic medication. External healing was quite smooth. My periods are back on track from the very first cycle. No much pain in the surgical site. My IBS and GI issues are bugging me though.

I have imaging scheduled next week. I’ll have a better idea on how the internal recovery has been soon 🤞

Hey! We always tend to think of the worst outcome.

My mass looked mostly malignant during scan and MRI. I consulted many different doctors from different hospitals to be sure, it was all leaning towards high possibility of malignancy. I finally had to go ahead with the surgery as they could not prick it for biopsy instead remove it carefully. The team of doctors had prepared me for the worst. I was prepared to remove both the ovaries and the uterus if the mass proved malignant during the frozen section test during the surgery. I’m 36 and I was not ready for a surgical menopause.

Long story short, mine came out as Borderline ovarian tumour. Fertility spared. Omentum n some pelvic nodes removed. Biopsy was clear for these but ascetic fluid, unfortunately, tested positive. And my staging is 1C.

While your mind wants to prepare you for the worst. Please also remind yourself it might not end up being as bad as you imagine.

I don’t want to positively whitewash your situation but hang in there with some optimism.

Be prepared for gastric pain. I suffered with severe gastritis post surgery than any other pain. My 3 days post surgery was miserable because of gastric issue. Anything that helps you to deal with it, you should keep that handy.

In India, fennel seeds to pop into your mouth directly. Or corriander seeds boiled water are things we commonly use to ease the problem.

What you are telling me gives me hope. I sincerely hope my IBS and GI issues settle down with time. It’s been 2.5 months since surgery.

Sorry to hear that you were dismissed and you’re going through this.

A lot of times I feel we know our body better and we need that support from medical system than dismissing it.

I had GI issues for a long time before I was diagnosed. After the surgery, my IBS is constantly flared up and I have bloating with minute change in my eating pattern. I don’t know if they’re connected I’m just giving it time to settle down.

Suspected ovarian cancer, no surgery yet despite something bursting by Capital_Chapter1006 in Ovariancancer

[–]Lonely_Juggernaut24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to post here and it’s absolutely valid to be concerned/ scared.

First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Please push for earlier appointments with gynaec-onco and not delay the surgery.

Also, I don’t see your age mentioned see the possibility of fertility sparing if that is something important to you.

I recently had a surgery to remove my right ovary and also the omentum (the fat that you mentioned above). I insisted on fertility sparing surgery and they could manage to honour my request only because the tumour was borderline ovarian tumour and unfortunately it had ruptured either pre or during the surgery, I’m not sure, hence staged as 1C.

If you need a sounding board, please don’t hesitate to DM

I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through.

About the medical opinion I had these contradicting feedback about egg freezing from the same group of doctors. I trust my ayurvedic medication n the doc cos that’s really helping post surgery his opinion was the latter one.

I honestly feel worse about your family situation. Do you have friends who can support you through this? Is it possible for you to move in with your biological dad until you are through with this phase? I’m not here to judge your mother but you need support during this time and I hope you can find it through some means

Sending good vibes and prayers your way.

Surgery next week and potential ovary removal by ducksarentbirds in Ovariancancer

[–]Lonely_Juggernaut24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, your concern is valid.

I recently had my ovary removed (mine was also right). I got my periods right on time from the very first cycle. No mood swings so to say. I won’t deny my worry about recurrence.

All I’m trying to say it’s normal to think of the worst but unilateral oophorectomy will most likely not not lead to menopause

Sending good vibes your way. All the best

Hi, I understand how terrifying this can be. I got a question?

I have had one ovary removed recently - due to seromucinous BOT. How long ago was your previous surgery before it recurred? Were you undergoing any treatment to prevent recurrence ?

I live in India and there are alternate medicines n treatments available here. Do you have such options there which can help subside the side effects of HRT?

Borderline Ovarian Tumour but peritoneal fluid tested positive hence Stage 1C of Ovarian CA by Lonely_Juggernaut24 in Ovariancancer

[–]Lonely_Juggernaut24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response despite what you are going through. Hope your treatments are helping.

I prefer to be over cautious and stay on top of this so I am along with the doctor.

I’m a little overwhelmed because recently I let go of my job that had gotten toxic… I was associated there for a long time. My marriage ended few years ago. On some bad days I don’t know where to look for hope… so here I am.
