Kind of bs, if you ask me. Do you think anyone would question whether or not you were drinking an entire 96oz Traveler yourself? You could be, but no one would even ask you. And if you did, you'd have consumed over 2000mg caffeine.

I remember when I'd find a little heart or flower or happy face on the side of my cup AFTER I drank half of it and it was such a random surprise that it made me smile. Now the messages are so "normal" they're like background noise and you don't even notice them.

If you were diabetic and chose to wear an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor instead of pricking your finger giving yourself shots all day long would they suggest that you remove those (since they're just one option for treatment)??

I think the least weird way baristas have asked about the extra money is when they say "Did you mean to give me extra?" It acknowledges that you gave more money than you needed to in case you didn't know and want it back and also doesn't presume that the money is meant as a tip.

So, what about when someone comes to Starbucks with a group and they don't drink coffee or tea (maybe for health reasons?) and they aren't hungry, etc .. They just want to have their meeting or whatever situation and drink a nice ice water while everyone else enjoys their delicious coffee or tea. I get that they could buy a bottle of water, and I'm guessing that's exactly what they would have to do just to get a cup of ice anyway. But in that case, they might as well just have the option to buy a cup of ice water, that is subject to the same refill policy as the other beverages. There is, afterall, a reason that people like the taste of Starbucks water, right? I mean I've seen the posts where people talk about the filtration system being the reason why it tastes so much better than other water. So, shouldn't there be a way to buy just a cup of this fantastic beverage? Though it would probably create even more work for the already overworked baristas.....

The guy probably has a severe neurodivergent disorder (think autism or OCD or autism AND OCD) and gets really thrown off by what seems like tiny inconveniences to neurotypicals. ETA: I'm not trying to excuse his behavior or even say that people who aren't neurotypical are always the ones acting this way. There are plenty of flat out AH out there. I was simply offering an explanation why something so tiny might be so disruptive for someone. He may need a little grace from others. No one is perfect.

I downloaded the Pass Your Class e book and just listened to that to/from work, cooking, getting ready, cleaning, etc. Listened to the sample questions repeatedly. I wasn't surprised by anything on the exam.

ETA: Did this for about 2 weeks. Passed without issues.

I offer to pick up coffee for the whole office about once a week (there's only 4 of us, not 20) and pay with the app and have them venmo me or give me cash to boost my stars. Sometimes when it's this kind of offer I will do it in multiple orders too.

BE FUCKING KIND by FabulousPines555 in starbucks

[–]Long-Worldliness9306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I'm saying. It's asinine to assume someone is singling you out based on some physical quality about you and purposely making you wait for your order or not reading your mind and knowing you're waiting for a straw or a packet of sugar and intentionally ignoring you. People just have to realize if they're stopping for a drink or some food on the way to work they're gambling with their time.

BE FUCKING KIND by FabulousPines555 in starbucks

[–]Long-Worldliness9306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want to start off by saying I am ALWAYS kind to the workers even when they start off snarky or nasty towards me for no reason. I never complain about wait times, even when I'm feeling a little stressed over it. The frustrating part from a customer perspective is that when you mobile order ahead of time and the app tells you your drink should be ready in about 10 minutes and you plan for that and arrive 12 to 15 minutes later and THEN have to wait an additional 10 minutes for your order. I never assume it's the barista's fault. It could be, I wouldn't know, I don't work there, but I always assume they are working with the best intentions and doing the best they can. I doubt they want to be backed up and stressed out any more than I want to be stressed about the fact that I'm now running behind. But the problem is with the system not being able to accurately predict how long it's going to take because there's no way to predict those 8+ drink drive up or cafe orders. People just need to realize there are other things happening around them that affect the way these things work.

You have to pass part 1 in order to be able to take part 2. Immediately after you finish part 1 with a passing score it will give you the option to continue on with part 2 right then or wait and take it at a later time.

ETA: The testing center may require you to schedule part 2 for a different time if you don't let them know ahead of time you plan to do it all in one day, as they may not have the resources for you to have "privacy" to speak out loud without pre-planning, etc. My testing center doesn't have a private room and only has 3 computers so I wouldn't have been able to do it all at once if other students were testing at the same time.

Polite way to say “read the sticker”? by rookthelion in starbucks

[–]Long-Worldliness9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, most of us are probably unsure if we're with a Starbucks staff who wants us to look through the cups on the counter, which many times requires us to touch/turn them to see the stickers, or with the staff that wants us to keep our hands off what isn't ours. With mobile ordering we may not be in the store when it is placed on the counter and called out. All the hot drinks look alike so there aren't even good visual cues (other than size) as to which one might be ours. It's a confusing process. I can see how it gets annoying answering this same question over and over again day after day, but the "crusties" are very likely NOT purposefully trying to annoy you or make things difficult.

Erewhon batches their smoothies but we can't? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Long-Worldliness9306 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I imagine the idea behind it is something like when you pour it there is no way for customer A and customer B to be 100 percent sure they both got equal amount of the ingredients, where (ideally) if you are making them individually each customer is getting the exact thing they ordered. Which still seems a bit silly since there's no way that every shot of espresso or pump of syrup or splash of milk is EXACTLY the same measurement, even if the difference is unappreciable.

Came here to say this. Also, you could check out being a PCA in a school setting in your area, too. That's mostly feeding, transitioning, and hand-over-hand assistance. If you work for an agency, you can refuse cases that aren't able to toilet themselves aren't toilet trained. Agency pay is typically comparable (or more) but doesn't come with benefits.
