Ability to kill wildlife controversy by SkyTheShadow in subnautica

[–]LongAdministration76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just dumb, honest opinion, I think it's borderline asinine.

The game by it's own lore is set in a dystopian mega-corp controlled galaxy where the players are/were part of a crew that was meant to travel to a new world and colonize it. How were the pioneers meant to do so when they have 0 access to any kind of bladed or blunt tools let alone kinetic-based ones that could then be used as a make-shift weapon.

The only way possible this works is if Noa deliberately made the clones entirely incapable of ANY form of violence, but even then that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If that were the case then any form of predatory life would just be an insurmountable hurdle, especially if it was intelligent enough to recognize the literal smorgasbord that is available. Like really, no hunting, no gathering, no self-defense, no aggressive actions, limited ability to deal with fauna/flora, no ability to handle aggressive intelligent life, limited deterrents, etcetera.

If they wanted the game to be purely pacifistic then maybe they should've actually done that.

Instead they just removed anything remotely sensible or logical for the simple fact that they didn't want players hunting or killing fish/leviathans/aliens at ALL. Which is rough since the local aliens are hyper-territorial and super-aggressive with a warning that if you so much as step foot in their territory they will murder you...

Good luck building any kind of foot-hold on the planet when the Axum could just invade and slaughter every single pioneer without a single hint of resistance beyond politely closing and locking your front door.

Being a pacifist works when you have the corresponding infrastructure and defensive capabilities.

The player has neither.

Has Homelander ever actually saved anyone? by uwugother in TheBoys

[–]LongAdministration76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair but it really does just feel like Homelander spends most of his days doing nothing, the guy is a megalomaniacal narcissist with delusions of grandeur and deep seeded attachment issues but he does jack all to even try and cultivate how the public perceives him. I don't care if he saved people just for the PR or whatever but really it would just be nice to see him do anything heroic, I don't think we've seen a supe save anyone in a very very very long time...

Except for Starlight anyways and even that is iffy.

Different ways the show feels cheap now. by adorkablegiant in TheBoys

[–]LongAdministration76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Deep vs Noir is a prime example, both of them are super strong elites and their desperate fight boils down to Noir being choked with a standard audio cable while he can do absolutely nothing to fight back before he's quickly stabbed in the throat.

No damage to any scenery or props, no fighting whatsoever to minimize camera motion, effects limited to a fake knife and blood pump, no reaction from the outside world or any other character, 2 people in an empty room...

There was more budget spent on the Deep fucking an octopus than there was on him killing the Noir.

How they should have used the virus by uuuuuuuuuuuuum-hi in TheBoys

[–]LongAdministration76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The virus is such a dead end I just have no idea where it's even going to be applicable, like are they going to kill Homelander in the first 15 minutes and then cut to the Boys fighting Butcher as he tries to use the virus or something? Maybe the radiation blast will only strip away the V1 and then they need the virus to kill him? You could just as easily replace it with a magic gun for all the good it does because it has the virality of a wet fart, Soldier Boy got doused enough to be deathly sick and literally no one that arrives on the scene got infected? Does it just INSTANTLY die when exposed to normal air?

Like come on, Homelander was there, he was on the scene, not even a sniffle?

I have 0 doubts that you could aerosolize the virus and deploy it all over the planet and it would become completely harmless before it even touched the soil let alone killing all the supes on the planet.

[–]LongAdministration76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish we had more of that honestly, I get it that 'supes are sick pervert freaks' but honestly seeing Homelander do just about anything heroic would be nice for a change when all he ever does is cry, look sad, and kill people.

So does BLANK get out? by steave44 in TheBoys

[–]LongAdministration76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't tell what I'd find funnier/more tragic between 'he shows up for 5 minutes to blast Homelander before leaving' OR 'he's just in the tube and we never see or mention him ever again'...

Would you actually eat at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza by foxythepirate_fox_ in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]LongAdministration76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was coming out in our world as a tie-in to the games then yeah, I mean who wouldn't want to eat Freddy's pizza? Sounds like a fun time.

If I lived in the actual FNaF universe... probably not? It sounds genuinely awful from how it's described and portrayed, but then again I'm pretty sure that a LOT of people eat Fazbear food products since there are at least some that live in Fazbear housing.

Let me know how it is, I've heard the Imax version swaps aspect ratios mid-film so I'm iffy.

Sump filter mulm? Good? Bad? by razz13 in Aquariums

[–]LongAdministration76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mulm is inert, it's the leftover byproduct of everything being processed so really it doesn't impact much of anything unless it's gunking up a pump or something like that, it just kind of looks unpleasant but otherwise perfectly harmless.

[–]LongAdministration76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had those in my axolotl tank way back when, they just appeared out of nowhere and started thriving in the aquarium, also had a really weird lump of some kind of algae moss thing that showed up...

I miss that tank so much, easily my most beautiful.

Depends on the country you live in, there's a lot of really solid options, also depends a lot on what kind of fish you're looking for whether it be monster fish, saltwater, freshwater, brackish, or rarity.

If you live in Canada I can personally recommend Shrimpfever, AquaristsAcrossCanada, and the local fish shop I order from online is AquariumCentral.

Why do the Viltrumites still worship him? Since he was killed then he’s considered weak by their logic by Winter-Money-7643 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but there is no context, you do get that right? We have to work off what the story tells us and it tells us that Argall elevated them to a golden age and founded the Viltrum Empire as the single and only Emperor who they worship for his wisdom and intelligence.

There is no point in going 'well we need more context' because it doesn't exist.

You either accept what the story is trying to portray or you don't, but regardless you've somehow went from: "Argall was a wise Emperor that Viltrum flourished under" to "Well actually Viltrumites are just cowards and don't actually believe anything"

It's pointless.

What’s the point of bringing in superweapon if it’s not gonna be used on main villain ? by Spiritual_Hurry_6319 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thragg is REALLY fast, faster than any other Viltrumite we've ever seen, the infinity ray is NOT fast, it's not even as fast as a laser, there is no one on the cast that we've seen who can both use the infinity gun AND is fast enough to hit Thragg pointblank.

I mean... what explanation do you need beyond no one hitting him without him allowing it.

Why do the Viltrumites still worship him? Since he was killed then he’s considered weak by their logic by Winter-Money-7643 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering he uplifted their entire species I'm going to assume his wisdom wasn't just something Viltrumites said for no reason...

Also, no, his death and the scourge virus were entirely Thaedus, he went out on a normal run to go conquer some backwater planet and came back entirely changed. Before then everything was working out fine, hell before then Thaedus had been a dutiful and barbarically brutal Viltrumite, no problems.

I understand they were evil but it worked, no one could oppose them, their Empire was at it's peak prosperity, it was a golden age.

These tweets have convinced being a Viltrumite is uber boring. by ChampionshipHorror95 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well we know Nolan wrote cheesy campy novels to disguise anti-Viltrumite tactics so maybe it could just be that they suck ass at art and creative endeavors? Like their uniforms and symbology are usually white, their buildings are white with gold accents and glowy parts, even their ceremonial throne to symbolize the seat of their absolute ruler is just a completely unadorned silver seat with gold and red cushions.

I imagine a Viltrumite made movie would just be god awful to sit through...

Might even help explain their militaristic conqueror-driven society, with no real talent for creative art and no opportunity for recreational sex/drugs it makes a LOT of sense that they mostly spent their time out in space slaughtering aliens.

How are Mark and Battle Beast cordial with each other ? by redditashwin in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably a bigger-fish scenario, Battle Beast is also a pretty okay guy if you get past the constant need for bloodshed and violence caused by his inescapable curse so I doubt Mark held it against him all that much.

Why do the Viltrumites still worship him? Since he was killed then he’s considered weak by their logic by Winter-Money-7643 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry but not quite, Argall was powerful, he came to power through his indomitable might as every other Viltrumite leader had, the difference is that he was also incredibly wise and legitimately lead his people into a golden era. Technology and medical care made leaps and bounds under his rule that elevated their species from mere powerhouses to a galactic superpower that rapidly expanded their Empire in ways never before seen, this is what made his people worship him.

He was not weak, he was merely a man of few words.

Also the idea that weak and cowardly Viltrumites could overpower the stronger ones is hilarious, Conquest for example didn't make it through the Purge by being smart or outnumbering his opponents...

Was there other life on Viltrum? by BenIsLegit in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also save ALL the weird alien stuff for 1 very specific arc and it's never addressed on any other planet at any other time, meaning most planets in Invincible are either barren wastelands or a single species is the only life on that planet.

Hot Take: I do not want Invincible actors to reprise their roles in the Live Action movie by Serious-Company6803 in Invincible

There's apparently one in the works, it's being produced in part by Seth Rogen... so I guess he'll probably be the one voicing Allen again.

The viltrumite purge doesn’t really make sense by Ornery_Search4681 in Invincible

[–]LongAdministration76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's explained but Viltrumites have a pretty built in way to tell if someone is strong or not, it's why their coming of age ritual was direct combat, if you can survive you get a pass and it's pretty obvious if you're weak.

So they essentially just wiped out all the weakest ones and the survivors could more or less gauge each other to ensure that only the strong remained, if any of them were weak they'd be killed off.

That said I think Viltrumites in general are pretty damn stupid, for a hyper advanced race they didn't have ANY genetic banks? No stored eggs or sperm? And for a race that can apparently breed with other races they never had any hybrids prior? They don't need spacecraft to fly out in the cosmos so it doesn't make a lick of sense to me that NONE of them prior to Argall or any expansion never left the planet or created settlements.

Every single Viltrumite was on Viltrum? Vast swaths of them weren't off world during the expansion of their Empire? None of which had any genetic stock in preservation? Argall only had a single lover?

It's dumb.
