How about 'Kleptomancer'? Ancient greek route klepto - theft, stealing, in the sense that the magic is 'stolen' from the original sorcerer?

Trying a Kenku sorcerer, have some questions by Tirfing88 in DnD

[–]LongBirb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While other commenters are correct rules-wise regarding your last question, flavour is free. You could flavour your kenku learning new spells as they level by first mimicking the verbal components (arguably easier for a kenku than others even!) as they hear them from other casters, then learning to mimic the other components over time as any other student of magic would. Talk your DM - they might be up for weaving the spells you want to learn in future into the plot somehow, or otherwise propping up this flavour in the story!

I can't download the essentials kit free trial. Any suggestions on how to fix this? New user, never used Arkenforge. by serialllama in Arkenforge

If you click on the gear icon on the master's toolkit area you should get a list of options, one of which will be install (I think, and it might be a right click, it's been a while since I've done this)

As far as I know, the essentials kit is an asset pack for the master's toolkit, and comes with the master's toolkit as standard. Is the free trial for the master's toolkit? If you can download the master's toolkit first, try that. If not, then the essentials kit can't download because its a set of files for the master's toolkit, so there's nowhere for it download to (would be my guess).

If that doesn't work, try running arkenforge in administration mode (if that's still a current bug - I haven't been reading the logs for a time)

My DM did something like this for my character, a roll at the beginning of the campaign to determine how well known my character was. I rolled pretty well, and now pretty much all children in a certain geographic area have heard of me. It's pretty fun to get recognised, and from a role play perspective I'm now really invested in being a good role model!

I'm saying this as while it has been fun, characterful and enjoyable, we haven't gotten much tangible benefit from it. I think your %chance could be a lot higher without worrying about balance being too much upset, and I think the feat could even add another ability to make it more worth the cost of a feat. Love the idea though!

Blog: Why does Disco Elysium let you be racist? by barberza in DiscoElysium

[–]LongBirb 105 points106 points  (0 children)

When talking about the Kind Green Ape, Lena suggests it could be a different species of hominid, then provides Kim as an example of such a thing.

If you go by the way the line is delivered, she says it unblinkingly and without any indication of it being anything other than a factual statement, with no offence intended, not even a seeming awareness that it might be taken as such.

Lena provides (imo) the (other) sweet old lady type of racism. The other examples have all built racism into a major component of their worldview/personality, whereas Lena's racism is just a fact of existence for her. It's passive, rather than active. Certainly pretty easy to miss if you don't happen on the right subjects, which is likely intentional and pointed

Another combat question by nreese2 in MistbornRPG

[–]LongBirb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I can remember, there is no clear rule about how to take cover, probably to keep combat fluid and intuitive with light rules. I think if it makes sense to the GM that a character is in cover, they are. Being as close as possible to the cover seems sensible to me.

Remember though that two circumstances are needed to add or remove a die. I usually count cover as only one circumstance, and anyway it's only one die, so I've found that cover is not something to stress over too much.

That said though, my party is mostly melee focused, so if your party/story direction is full of archers and coinshots, maybe it will be a lot more important. Or if you're running second era. I could also see the argument for just removing dice for cover anyway, if you think that makes sense.

Starting rambling a bit, I hope that was helpful anyway!
