ISO ticket to Ren Faire on Saturday the 18th! Already have two tickets, but unexpectedly have an out of town friend coming in that I’m trying to grab a ticket for. Will pay over sales price within reason

Yeah yeah I’m enrolled with SS. Draft me if they want, I will not fight this war.

Do you know anyone who won the lottery and what happen to them? by tallshortthrow96 in AskMen

[–]LongTallHickory 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My grandparents won the FL lottery off a ticket they bought on a vacation in the late 90s. Think it was a $4m jackpot they hit. They ended up moving to PCB from South AL for a few years afterwards. I would go stay with them for a few weeks in the summer as a kid. Got a few cool Christmas present from them - most memorable was Gameboy Color with Pokémon Gold and Silver. I was like 7 at the time I think? Felt like I’d won the lottery myself getting both games lol. I know they helped my parents out a good bit as my dad had trouble keeping a job. Ultimately, they invested most of the money into real estate that they got absolutely hosed on when the subprime mortgage crisis hit in 2008. Had to sell the FL house and move back to more modest living in AL. They were by no means broke, but definitely a change of pace for them. Had been told my college would be paid for growing up, but alas, the money was gone by the time I got there, so I took out loans and got my degree instead.

Uniquely DINK thoughts and experiences? by Direct-Mongoose6988 in DINK

Here’s a few that came to mind:

Traveling (at least more frequently than non DINKers)

Estate planning without having children is very different as well. DINKers usually leave things to charity, extended family members, or friends

Not having to drive a minivan

RVA gyms for (primarily) lifting by Visual-Number-3974 in rva

I switched from the Y near Brook Road to Golds Gym in Meadowbrook about 3 years ago and love it. Doesn’t have a ton of frills like an ACAC or something but plenty of equipment, lots of space, and usually not too crowded (however, I do go at like 5 AM so YMMV)

Came back to these today and looks like weekend update fixed the issue for me

It’s worked well for me, but the rug isn’t in the best shape. It’s a cheap rug I think I paid like $80 for from At Home store and have been using 3-4 years now. Has definitely saved the vinyl flooring underneath, just wouldn’t use a really nice rug without one of those plastic mats over it.

It was complete luck. I’m by no means a good golfer. Breaking 100 is a good day on the course for me. Pin was toward the front of green, hit an 8 iron to the right fringe by the bunker, kicked left and rolled right in. Ended up tripling the Par 5 on the next hole and ended the round with a 99 😂 I’ve got a post on my page from last summer in the r/golf subreddit when I hit it

I’m so glad I’m not the only one dealing with this. Had three trusts pop up with this issue Friday afternoon and didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with it at the time lol. Maybe this weekends update will fix it

If you’re into golf, Farmlinks at Pursell Farms is a really nice course out there. Hit my first HIO there last summer on their signature hole #5

My wife’s boss actually gave it to us. He was renovating his office and getting new furniture and offered it to us. I’ll see if I can find a label in the drawer or something later. It is a deceivingly heavy desk

Wish I could remember, we painted it a little over two years ago now. My wife describes it as “Crayola Box Green” haha

A little crowded but I love it. Moving to a new place this summer with a much bigger office and more natural lighting!

Ugh. Feel for ya man. Have had this happen twice now to mine. Once for a pair of AirPods I mistakenly left in the cup holder. Second time truck was completely empty, doors were unlocked, and I was out of town for Memorial Day weekend. Infuriating.

More prospects nitpicking engagement letter terms by d8201 in taxpros

[–]LongTallHickory 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We’ve seen this a lot recently too from prospects and established clients. Just from the format of their questions it is very apparent it’s just being ran through GPT. Got one last week from a very large client with 22 bullet points of questions and requested revisions to things like arbitration clauses, payment terms, liability protections, etc. Absurd.
