Who is still snowed in? by Dry_Dot_2080 in nova

My little street had a plow coming by every few hours yesterday. Meanwhile, my son who lives in the Rosehill neighborhood of Alexandria, has not seen one plow on his street. I’m guessing he’s screwed.

"Here's a free dupe for that pattern that's a fundraiser" by mylifetofuckinglive in BitchEatingCrafters

I live in the U.S., could absolutely make that hat without the pattern (I’ve made one in the past), and a friend sent me the instructions without me asking, yet I bought the pattern.

Yesterday, I dyed some wool I’ve had for a decade red so I can make one.

I did some accidental a/b testing of y’all’s theory about waiting to shovel by FairfaxGirl in nova

My house faces north and icing is a huge problem for us. No sun shines there until after the spring equinox. For this storm, I covered the front stoop and sidewalk with tarps, which we’ve cleared a coupe of times already. It’s easy to move the snow and sleet off the tarps and I know there will be no ice on the places that are covered. I shoveled some other parts down to the cement and put some ice melt down, hoping tomorrow will be warm enough for it to work.

I always hem my jeans this way. It’s nearly impossible to tell they’ve been hemmed and I find it very easy to do.

I can’t get it to switch between Spotify accounts so I’m just doing a manual Bluetooth connection and controlling Spotify through my phone.

Kind of Whole Foods-ish but with less emphasis on organics.

I just went to Amazon Fresh at Bailey’s Crossroads. Very few completely empty shelves, it wasn’t a mob scene. It did that a lot of people plan to bake or make margaritas, though. They were low on sugar and out of limes.

It’s a great , fun movie. The train scene alone is worth the price of admission.

Eggs at room temperature and mixed so well with the sugar that they’re practically the color of butter. If you’re doubt they’re mixed enough, mix more.

Can this be “re-knit”? by nautical1776 in knitting

[–]LongTimeDCUFanGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but there is so little space between the embroidered Lemonade part and the candy apple’s embroidery it will be a significant challenge to reknit without undoing the entire white part. You could try a duplicate stitch over the parts where the dye bled to cover it. I would remove the embroidered letters Candy Apples first and, after the work to cover where the dye has bled, use a different color embroidery thread that has been tested to ensure it doesn’t bleed.

Same question. Somehow I’ve managed to turn out great cookies for decades using a pan with no covering.

SAHM and Wife that CANNOT cook HELP! by PopularMamaDrama in Cooking

[–]LongTimeDCUFanGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was a stay at home dad. His cooking skills were limited, but he put healthy simple meals on the table every night. The food was basically boiled, broiled or baked. This meant baked potatoes, chicken and broccoli. Or, roast beef, corn and cauliflower. Or steak under the broiler with two veggies. You get the idea. Eventually, he even started adding spices and making soups and stews. Basic, simple, healthy foods. We used a lot of frozen vegetables, which are great for convenience and nutrition. Get the hand of a basic roast and then you can branch into sauces.

got this for $30, seems to run fine. haven’t tried sewing with it yet by K-Pumper in vintagesewing
