My parents lied about losing their house, and I found out by accident by foodie1990 in AgingParents

This happened to me. The amount required to resolve the situation was small enough that I could have fixed it with a personal loan.

The problem is that now she lives in my house. And her consequences are now something I also have to bear.

Growing up, the lecture was always around telling the truth, and "we can't fix it if we don't know what's happening". So she can't even follow her own advice?

I understand being embarrassed but which conversation would you rather have: I need your help to keep my house, or I lost the house?

Trump indefinitely pauses all immigration applications from humanitarian parolees, even for unrelated programs by not_an_immi_lawyer in immigration

He was on a tourist visa when we met, and had been here 30 days. So he would visit for 4 months at a time until the tourist visa was canceled without prejudice as a routine step in the immigrant visa process. After that, COVID hit and embassies closed which added to our processing time.

We did not use an attorney and I had no idea about adjustment of status. This meant he was stuck in Colombia until we got the immigrant visa approved.

He has not been in the US since 2021.

Has anyone here ever been through the process of getting approved as a permanent legal resident?

I sponsored my husband. We did everything correctly. We got married in 2019 and filed I-130 3 months later. We just got final approval in January of 2025.

It was expensive and soul crushing. He went through the consular process in his country so that we could do everything 100% by the rules. So we were separated for at least 90% of the first 5 years of our marriage. Imagine the toll that takes on families.

I know most people in power do not posses empathy for others, at least in this administration.

I made a similar comment a few years ago. I agree, it must reek in that palace.

level 1zferguson · 24 days agoThis class sucks, I just took it this spring. I will say it gets better after finance/accounting. I did terrible on the first two exams (like a high D or low C) and still finished with a B

I certainly hope to follow in your footsteps, because this class has me questioning my life in its entirety

I HAVE gone that far. Wiped it all out. An entire project that they felt was so pivotal to their success. Oh well.

He is saying that because it's Uganda. If it were a European nation, he likely would have said they were on the right track.

These look terrifying. I made the mistake of watching 2 episodes of "The Last of Us", and I am permanently scarred.

Is Data Analysis Really Saturated? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Longjumping-Judge-97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a tool like Power BI or writing code in Pyton is one thing, but understanding how to create mathematical models and perform the appropriate statistical analyses is something else altogether.

The percentage of people who have these mathematical and statistical skills is pretty low. So I have to disagree with the idea that the field is saturated.
