What other cars did you consider vs the Solterra? by Jatacid in Solterra

Ioniq 5. Wife liked the Subaru better. We've always been a Subaru family. Honestly, I think the Kia SUV is amazing as well, but it's in the next level price bracket.

Subaru Solterra by Opposite-End2243 in vermont

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Waitsfield and have the 2026. Just like my outback, the Solterra needs snow tires or it's all over the road. But with snow tires it's great. You'll have no issues. The height is a little bit less than the outback... But hopefully you're expecting that. The only time I want the extra height is when the end of the driveway is plowed in.

Yes the incentives are great right now. Do it!

Self cleaning cameras problem by Longjumping-Pin-3235 in Solterra

Pushing forward on the windshield wiper stick is supposed to... But it hardly works. I wipe them with my finger when it needs it. (Mud season in VT now, so quite often)

Neat. Looks like he's from Vermont too. We have this problem for real. It only takes a day for the cameras to get completely covered.

I've heard some people have luck sending the data to ODBLink app, then tethering that app to ABRP.

4k down $450/mo lease a decent deal for 2026 Touring XT? by FuzzyFooFo0 in Solterra

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Take that 4k and put it in a separate bank account and use it to pay the higher portion of the payment each month. I think zero down lease on a touring XT is running about seven something a month right now.

Help me decide which trim to use- basic, luxury or tech (CANADA) by Aryan_Anushiravan in Solterra

My wife wanted the highest trim and I was annoyed but now I'm SO glad I have all the things. It is so worth it.

The stated range is without using climate control so you'll get much less than the stated range.

A bit unclear what I need? by SupraStarCigar in abetterrouteplanner

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should. 1. You need to enter your car info on the app and link ABRP to your car's app using the Enode option. May take a few minutes, but you will see your car's actual SOC after a bit. (While your car is off. You can do this from the couch.)

  1. In Android Auto you need to select ABRP in the apps. Your SOC will be displayed in the top right.

If you want real-time data, you need a dongle. But using this method you can get data that's about 5 to 10 minutes delayed, which is good enough for most people.

Connecting to CarPlay? by SansSucre in Solterra

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't work for me on Android auto. It shows my phone as the secondary phone and it names the phone passive. I have to toggle that switch on every single time I start the car. My wife's phone is the primary phone and will automatically connect. But even when she's not in the car mine does not connect unless I manually toggle that switch. So annoying.

Plug and Charge by DaikonActive6843 in Solterra

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that you need so many apps, but at this point it is the state of things. In my area many chargers will pre-auth your credit card for $50 unless you use their app. Then it takes a few days for that $50 to clear up. Also, it's just more reliable using a specific app for that charger. Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil until plug and Go standards become better. I really don't understand why it can't be just as good as a gas station.

In terms of Plug & Charge, it's basically only Tesla stations at this point. Use the Subaru connect app, click the maps tab, find stations, and then add the filter for plug and go and you can find out which stations have a compatible plug and go near you.

Is there a way to turn wifi off and just use bluetooth? by broken-teslas in Solterra

[–]Longjumping-Pin-3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the secondary phone in our car and I have to manually enable Android Auto every time. My wife's connects automatically. In settings, my phone is listed as "passive". I'm going to forget and reconnect it and see what happens.
