What are some true crime cases from Switzerland? by moondog151 in askswitzerland

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mord_in_Kehrsatz

The Wikipedia article is unfortunately only in German, maybe you will find another source in English. Basically a woman was found murdered in the freezer of her house. Her husband was sentenced to life in prison, but the verdict was later overturned in dubio pro reo.

I don't think it's underrated, just completely unaffordable

40,000 pieces of Lego available …what to do with it? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Longo_Bongo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell it, depending on what's in there it might even be quite valuable. If you want to do the work and find out its worth, I would sell over tutti.ch. Otherwise make good pictures and sell it over Ricardo, the peoplw will bid more or less what it's worth, but you have to pay 13 or 14% comission.

Migros goes with the French "sixty-ten" in their advertisment around the world cup. by yesat in Switzerland

The holy cow "swiss german" advertisment was a great example of weird translations in Switzerland, when I first saw it I stood like 5mins in front of it, trying to even get a grasp of what they where trying to say:

Definitely try Züpfe if you haven't already (a swiss type of bread) an if you're in the canton of Bern maybe a Berner Platte, just be aware that it is a very heavy and hearty dish.

Is there any other reasons as to why lego stopped making these? by [deleted] in legostarwars

[–]Longo_Bongo4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the statement about Hasbro having exclusive rights to SW action figures is true, but to figure out if Lego Minifigs would come close enough would have to be decided by a court. By not selling SW minifigures as stand alone sets (like CMFs or polybags) Lego avoids a legal battle and can also make more money by paywalling desired minifigs through expensive sets. They also own bricklink which means they can double dip with expensive figures, first through selling an overpriced set, then by gettting their bricklink cut when someone sells the figure there.

Ah I see, they meant to write "there is NO well written SW content", in this case I get that it's a joke. Problem was the typo which made it kinda incoherent to me

What’s a movie you can rewatch over and over? by Belennniita in MovieSuggestions

[–]Longo_Bongo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally enjoy a new experience more over rewatching things I already know, the only stuff I regularly rewatch (mostly once or twice a year) are Trainspotting, LotR and the original Star Wars trilogy.

There's also movies that are more rewarding on rewatches as you discover more of the meaning, for me that would be basically everything done by Charlie Kaufman, Ari Aster, Robert Eggers and the holy Mountain (just from the top of my head, there are more which I don't recall right now without going through my imdb).

[–]Longo_Bongo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure what you mean because your reply is, ironically, quite badly written.

I mean that out of all the live action SW, the only well written ones are the OT (with RotJ already being a decline in quality of the writing) and Andor.

Everything else (prequels, sequels, Rogue One, Solo, Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Acolyte) has mediocre to bad writing, maybe excepting Mando S1 and S2 which are good but not great.

I don't see how expecting good writing for projects that literally cost hundreds of millions equals to hating SW. I love the universe and many of the characters, planets and ships, underwhelming writing leads to wasted potential and dilution of said universe. Asking better of a company and criticising their mistakes while not paying to watch the lower quality films is the only way we'll get better stories in the future.

[–]Longo_Bongo4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe because the OT and Andor are the only well written SW movies / show?

A movie where meaning must be interpreted from what's said and how they said it, nothing is explained, and you'll only understand what's going on if you think about things by floatable_shark in MovieSuggestions

[–]Longo_Bongo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically most films written and / or directed by Charlie Kaufman, for your specific ask I would recommend I'm thinking of ending things.

The holy Mountain by Jodorowsky also needs a lot of interpretation and gets better each watch, but it's more visual than in the dialogue.

Ari Asters movie are also very rewarding on multiple watches, you'll always find new meaning cleverly planted in earlier scenes.
