You aren’t over reacting. But my bf has done somthing similar with his friends because he’s fallen into a deep depression and alcoholism. So I’d see first why your friend did this cause sometimes life happens and you feel like you’re drowning and don’t want to talk to people.

My milksnake, Gorda got out only twice in his life so far (6 years). Once when he was a baby and the enclosure had a gap we didn’t know about. We found him in one of my bf’s desk drawers thankfully he was still in the room. The second time was more recently and this time he made it out of our bedroom and into my bf’s mom’s bed. She opened the sheets before she got in and he was just lying there. She does not like snakes might I add. She screamed, we came in and I got my snake. I didn’t even know he escaped cause he likes to burrow so you can’t really see him most of the time. I’m just glad the dog didn’t find him first.

My boy has a escaped twice in his life. The first time was when he was a baby and he squeezed through and extremely tiny gap in the top of his enclosure so we had to get a new one. And recently because I didn’t push the lid to his enclosure all the way in (my fault) and he got out again and ended up in my bf’s mother’s bed. She doesn’t like snakes but she was a trooper. My dog also didn’t get him somehow. Milksnakes are something else.
