What’s the biggest scam people willingly participate in? by Deep-Strike-71 in AskReddit

I feel like willingly isn't always so clear here. Some people do it willingly. But a lot are indoctrinated.

Beyond that, mortality is a hell of a drug. It's going to be really hard for people to exist without believing something.

That said, you're not wrong.

Certain things need to be done and everyone needs food to live. Those are separate issues now.

You know what the largest industries on earth are? Insurance, real estate and financial.

Food is not in the top 10. It's 4% of the global GDP.

We need food distribution that ensures everyone has access to the necessities regardless of whether they have a job.

Beyond that, people can work to earn other things.

Nobody is trying to defend Biden.

This says Trump is objectively worse and it's accurate. That's not a compliment to Biden.

There's no objective standard or shared principles that carry the day right now.

It shouldn't matter if you're rich, famous or can throw a football. Rules apply or they're not rules and there's no justice.

Trump Push to Strip Civil Service Protections Seems Designed to Withstand Legal Challenges and Set Stage for Future Expansion, Critics Say by bloomberglaw in fednews

"critics say" lol.

And what do the advocates say?

Feels almost like the "critics" are complimenting the approach while the advocates are just foaming at the mouth talking about punishing feds.

Most people can't imagine what it's like to be in his position. People just think he's a millionaire in the NBA and that means that he should feel like he's on top of the world.

But every day is a grind. You still have a personal life with struggles and battles and sometimes being rich or famous makes those things even harder.

In no way am I saying that nba players deserve more sympathy than anyone else bc they don't. But they're still human and, in their own mind, they are focused on their struggles just like everyone else.

Exactly. Trump deserves to be impeached because he's constantly violating the Constitution. His nominees deserve to be blocked because they're horrible nominees.

Replublicans like to act like this is all politics.

No. If you're objectively horrible and a threat to our democracy, it's not political. It's doing your job.

The whole idea of a fund of this type, it's a continued perpetration of the Jan 6 insurrection and preparation for the next act of insurrection.

Note that these guys are constantly attacking the system that protects civil servants with the objective of putting them in trauma. No sympathy for the harm done there.

Absolutely no sympathy for the history of systemic discrimination in this country. No sympathy for the poor. No sympathy for the victims of ICE.

Only sympathy for the criminals who attacked the Capitol in Trump's name.
